We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks, while moving from Tuxtla. Having stayed at the Camino Real on the way to tuxtla, We knew that we didn't want to stay there.
The Bonampak is Tuxtla's oldest hotel, but was remodeled a few years ago. It still has an 80's look to it, though.
We booked one of the suites. It had two rooms, one with a king, and one with two twins ( kind of hard - all of them). It also had a dining table for four, a bar, and a living room with two sofas and a tv (Cable/ about 10 channels in English).
The room was spotlessly clean. The Bonampak is pretty small, and the staff has been there forever. They immediately treat you like family, and remember your likes and dislikes. My two kids felt safe and welcome.
There are three restaurants on the property. The cafeteria is open from 7am - midnight. It's an old fashioned coffeeshop, with good service, and very good food at great prices - a complete lunch for about US$7 There is another buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and a very good steak restaurant that's open for a late lunch and dinner. All the restaurants will deliver to your room.
Prices were very reasonable. The suite cost about what a regular room at the Camino Real or the Holiday Inn would have.
The Bonampak is located right on the Central Avenue, so it's not a quiet place. The bedrooms on the rear of the property are fine, though. The convenience of being able to walk downtown or to close restaurants more than made up for the noise.
The Bonampak is not the 'prestige' hotel in Tuxtla. However, having stayed in the two 'five star' hotels, I'll pick the Bonampak every time
