The Pavilion is a nice, large hotel located downtown Songkhla. It serves as accomodation for many oil & gas workers for short stays. Rooms are comfortable and well furnished - though they would need some renovation (especially the bathrooms - beware of blood stains...). The breakfast buffet is great (continental and thai food) as well as the restaurant that serves typical thai food at very low prices (consider a complete substantial dinner for less than $5).
Now the cons: staff speaks very little English (even basics) which is very problematic. Avoid the hotel bar too. Unreliable Internet connection in the lobby. The neighbourhood is not very nice (some restaurants though a couple of blocks away).
