“Grossly overrated--avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

All these haveli experiences are grossly hyped and overrated. There are much better options on the Udaipur, Jodhpur circles. Better stay in Ajmer city hotels for the same price. The only asset is the location which is just off the NH79--if one is traveling between Jaipur/Delhi to Udaipur. There is nothing spectacular in the property except spotting a few peacocks. The swimming pool is dilapidated. The property is very small, nothing to do , and no activities. The staff though is very warm and courteous. we were given the best room--suite. The room is big, bathroom is big and well equipped with LCD screen, AC and tiled floors(incoherently big),. But there is a lack of coherence and taste. For the price they charge, they should provide some nice bathroom soaps/shampoos.There are too many bugs and bees in the property, and morning we could not open our door as bees had nestled on to our doors. They should take a cue from welcomHeritage Jodhpur property. The netted doors are themselves giving way. sitting arrangements in the garden is very shabby and dirty. This hotel does not provide drinking water in restaurants or rooms, and charge Rs 100 for a Rs 15 bottle. Food is exorbitant when compared to other Welcomheritage hotels. These guys charge Rs 600 per head for dinner, whereas other guys charge Rs 300. Nothing great about quality of food. Neither great nor bad.

Room Tip: If you want some old world charm, you can ask for rooms next to dining hall..we stayed in a suite in...

“We loved this beautiful little hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2010

Set in beautiful gardens, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, this was an oasis of tranquility after the bustle of Pushkar and Ajmer. The rooms were beautifully furnished with some interesting antiques and pictures of the owner's family over the years - a reminder of old colonial days. The food was excellent and the staff delightful. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Go back 100 years in a dream world of Maharajahs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

We arrived in Bijay Niwas after a hectic trip to Ajmer Dargah and Pushkar. The place is 70 km from Ajmer...quite a distance in a town called Bijainagar. I was exhausted but the fatigue gave way to exhilaration on my first look at the place. A narrow dusty road in a provate estate leads you to a fairy world...a beautiful little palace in what looks like wilderness. I stayed in the suite and my experience is largely with the suite and not the small cottages that are also part of the property. If you want to feel/ enjoy the place gp for the Suite experience!!!

The evening is great in the spacious lobby on the ground floor decorated with antiques. This is actually a hunting lodge and everything here transports to a world 100 years back.

The morning is the most memorable part with the chirping of birds and peacock in the lawn ...what an experience.

We took the breakfast in the lawn. The staff were friendly, simple people including the Manager who were so helpful. This place is actually in the midst of an orchard called 'Model Farm' and you can take a walk in the orchards with help of the staff who are more than happy to oblige.

The food was simple and tasty...almost like home cooked meal. This is one of a kind of experience for people who love heritage holiday.

Strongly recommended!!! We left for Jodhpur in the afternoon after enjoying this beautiful property.

“Ideal stop if you are driving from Delhi to Udaipur”

We were driving from New Delhi to Udaipur and were recommended this place by a friend, its ideally located for this drive (Note: its not on NH8 it is on NH79A, the preferred route)

Very nice heritage property with loads of potential, though the staff needs loads of training.

“Lovely bit of the past in the heart of Rajasthan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2010

My family and I stopped at this bed and breakfast on the way from Udaipur to Jaipur. Wow. What a little gem. The lawns are meticulously manicured, with a crystal clear pool to cool off during the unseasonably warm spring. The rooms are so sweetly furnished with beautiful antiques. The dining room is something to see -- you can enjoy the gorgeous table settings (love the Rajasthani printed table cloths and napkins) and paintings. The painting is original, approximately 70 years old. The manager told us that it was done with natural mineral colors, so it doesn't fade. The lobby has a selection of antique furniture (including an old-fashioned 'air conditioner' and coal-powered water heater, neat!) and books. The entire place is obsessively clean, so there are no worries there. The food is authentically Indian and very good. The service is eager, attentive and helpful. We couldn't have been more pleased.
