I spent 2 nights in the older east building. Unlike the fancy (and expensive) west building, the east building is long overdue for renovation. The wallpaper was peeling, carpet and tile were worn, etc. Nonetheless, my double for single use was clean and comfortable and met my needs quite well, all for a very low rate. The staff at the east building reception desk were eager to help, although they spoke little English; one of them even walked me around the block to make sure I found the restaurant I was seeking. The staff at the west building spoke English well and were always available to assist.
Breakfast in the east wing was included in my room charge. A substantial Chinese buffet was available on both days. On the first day, but not the second, there was also a person preparing eggs - the scrambled eggs with herbs were delicious. Coffee-drinkers should take be forewarned, though - the coffee was overly strong and instant.
