“A taste of the new China at its opulent best.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

Deservedly five star rated hotel accommodations. However the staff is short on English knowledge. Excellent room, restaurants albeit at higher rates than surrounding restaurants (Need Chinese speaker to take you there), gym and lobby. At the lower rates I got through the company that brought me in, it was a very good value. Walking distance from the very enjoyable Longtan Park. Except for the odd googling and email hiccups, effective and free internet connections

“More than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2009

After a air travel of more than 20 hours from Mumbai with breaks in between at Hongkong , we reached taiyuan airport and we expected to be taken to "hotel in some second tier city in China and after a 25 minuts drive from airport ...ahoy we reach World Trade Hotel which is part of the World Trade centre twin tower at taiyuan, Shanxi province.
The check in was smooth and though English was understood slowly the key was handed to us literally immediately without much waiting, maybe our Hosts had kept things ready for us.
We were a team of 8 people from India .
The room was good , efficient and clean. It was on 25th floor and had a great view of the lights in China..The air conditioner was only working as heater as ambient temp was around 2-6 degree C. we had dinner at the special chamber -chinese style and the food wa simply superb shattering all ou myths about Chinese food. I must mention about the Peking Duck which was just excellent. The Sake and the Beer were tasty and excelent as well.the service was fantastic and had a Chinese touch to it.
Had a great sleep.Morining we had to leave so had breakfast which was a mixture of continental and chinese buffet and then checked out.I paid aroun USD 120 for the room and it was well worth.

“a really good hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2009

This is a rather grandiose place occupying one part of a re-creation (on a smaller scale) of the ill-fated buildings in New York. And all the grand pretentious Chinese hotel lobby and shops are here. But our room was excellent -- and the staff were efficient and caring -- even the concierges downstairs who had to struggle with English! (My English/Chinese dictionary helped!)
But everything fitted together very well -- and our three days at this hotel were enjoyable. The hotel private-car excursions were also very well organized.

  • Liked — a caring attitude despite the grandiose appearance of the hotel
  • Disliked — getting lost in the vast array of lobby shops

“A Good Business Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2008

I stayed in the Jin Jiang World Trade Hotel in Taiyuan for two nights. It is a modern high-rise hotel in the newer, attractive part of this industrial city. The room was big and comfortable. The AC worked well. The hotel's swimming pool under a dusty glass roof is large, attractive and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff was always pleasant and helpful.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2008

Visited in Oct 06. Will be going back again this May. I stayed in a lot of different hotels that were a bit of the beaten path and this was the best by far. I never expected to be speaking German with the Austrian manager of hotel in China but it is an interesting world. Rooms were very good and service is excellent. It isn't the hotel's fault that you can taste coal in the air outside. Yes, you don't see fog in the mornings, you see air pollution. They told me it was a lot better since they started preparing for the 08 Olympics. I can't imaging what it was like before and I am interested in seeing if it has really improved.

No problems with the hotel though. It was actually one of favorites from my last trip and that included some 5 star Shanghai hotels.

I would not be staying there again if it wasn't good.

Stayed October 2006
