“you get what you pay for.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

On arriving at the hotel the staff are very friendly and welcoming, suit case taken to room for you, welcome drink etc... Hotel is clean and pools are clean and clear ... but very cold!!
Food is ok but very repetative and only catered for french and german guests, a bit of a let down!
We were the only english people at the hotel and staff spoke very little english which made it very dificult at the reception and bar.
Rooms were very basic with only 1 english channel being bbc world news. Small balcony but excelent view of pool and sea from the front of the hotel.
Beds were very hard and uncomfortable, 2 single beds and no double!!
Maids were good, clean sheets, towles every day and fresh flowers in bathroom and on bedding every day.. this was a nice touch!!
Would be a great holiday for children as the animation team were always looking to entertaine in any way they could.

All in all would stay again if the food was better and spoke german or went with a big group!!!

Every time we bought anythink from inside the hotel or in the market in nabeul they would try to rip us off so barter hard and be prepared to walk away... they will run after you!

“Excellent holiday - great value for money - all you need & more!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

Ok first let me start by saying that you should ignore any bad reviews regarding this hotel as I can only think that the people who wrote them either paid HUGE amounts of money or are very hard to please!
My partner and I paid £500 each for two weeks including our transfers ( which worked out at £30 for the two of us ) and we were very happy with what we got for our money.
The transfer from Monastir airport took just under two hours and we arrived around midnight. The hotel reception staff were lovely and immediately offered us a meal each and a drink before we retired to our bedroom - we thought that was a very nice touch!
We stayed in room 166 which is in the main part of the hotel overlooking the sea - fantastic view! A useful tip = I would recommend that ( unless in a wheelchair obviously ) when you book if you have the option for sea views or a high floor apartment you should go for it as the little bungalowes around the complex don't look as nice and there are no views for them. As the main section of the hotel has only 3 floors it is not as if there are tons of stairs either!. In our room we had a nice spacious bathroom, a double bed and a single bed, tv and wardrobes etc. The only tv channel in English is BBC world news but you probably aren't going on holiday to watch telly - plus there is loads of entertainment to keep you busy! The animation team put on a live show each night and work throughout the day offering step classes, water aerobics, salsa classes, volleyball, darts, archery etc - you name it and they do it! We don't have children but the staff are great with the children and offer a kids disco, kids club and all sorts of activities so fabulous for families as well as couples or just by yourself.
The food can be slightly repetitive but there is so much choice that you can mix and match - loads of salad choices as well as hot food - certainly something for everyone no matter how fussy you are! Most of the hotel staff are lovely and get very excited to meet English guests - there were not many English guests whilst we stayed there ( just 3 couples over two weeks ) but that is one of the reasons we booked it - we like to just relax on holiday but if you are desperate to make new English friends on all of your holidays then this is not the hotel for you. Most of the guests are German, Polish, French and Russian and if you can speak French then it helps - we can't but had no trouble communicating with anyone.
The hotel has fantastic choices of pools - with water slides that everyone loves - especially my partner ( I recommend the yellow slide ) . The beach is lovely too...it is worth getting up early like a German and putting your towels down on the beach but even if you don't a lot of the other guests seem to move from the beach to by one of the pools frequently so there are usually sunbeds free again by lunchtime. ( worth getting a mattress for beach sunloungers otherwise they are a little hard ) Also there are so many sun loungers around the various pools you should not have a problem finding somewhere lovely to relax.
The grounds of the hotel are well kept, with a few stray kittens and cats wandering about - if you can then please try and sneak some meat or fish out for them and a cup of water as no one looks after them so they do rely on kind tourists : )
There are a lot of flies but the staff do spray the counters down often and unfortunately they is not much more they can do - you are in Tunisia afterall.
If you really spent a lot of time trying to find fault with this hotel you could, but if you have paid a good price then you get A LOT for your money - I go on holiday to relax not to photograph smudged paint on walls etc.
The towels and bedding are changed daily and the cleaners go to a lot of trouble making flower arrangments in your rooms.
The one small grumble I would have ( and I mean small ) is that the glasses they serve your drinks in are small so it's worth asking for two each at a time to save queueing but it is hardly a problem!
Overall this is a fab hotel and my partner and I miss it already : ( Before I forget there are a lot of shops within a ten minute walk including a few supermarkets, clothes shops etc and a big Market every Friday. Also the hotel has a small market in the grounds once a week on a Tuesday - but big Market is much better!
If you are going to this hotel then have a fabulous time!!! Lucky you!

i just got back from this hotel, with me my hubby and 4 young children. we stayed in the bungalows which were more than addiquate for us, maid service every day with clean sheets and towels.plenty to do here and the amination team were absolutley brilliant. especially sisco and marco. gonna miss these guys as all my kids got attatched to them all.. they were fab with the kids.nightly entertaiment and mini disco..nabeul is out of the way in tunisia so not many shops araound but you can go into the town,, but be warned, you got a market which they do hassle you to buy goods.they have their own private beach but to be honest we stayed at the pool as was no need to go there. comunication was very limited here but as we were the only english family half the staff could speak english.was dissapointed with the food.. wasnt expecting eggs n bacon but they do cater more for the russians polish french ect...food was repetative, not much of a choice, as for the drinks its all local but mostly serve in beakers. thats the only downfall i could say about this hotel.wish the english could take over this as it would be a 5 star... russians were totally rude.. i felt sorry for the staff from some of the abuse they took of them.. they have no manners what so ever, just push in when queing. plebnty do do for the kids, pools are fab with 1 of them have fab slides, my 3 yr old loved it.. they do excursions.. i would recomment the prirate ship 1 had a brill time on there. so overall brilliant hotel.. staff were amazing.. crap food but something always there to eat.. pizza pasta ect.. rooms clean just need more english people there :) oh there are lot of flies to but i think you get that every where in tnisia not just at this area.

3 h travel with bus from airport to hotel. The staff could not speak hardly any English. You have to carry your luggage alone to the room, but the boy opens the door for you, want´s a tipp for that! The beds were full of ants, the toilet dirty. I saw the kitchen - a haven for rats and insects. the street cats are in the hotel and the kitchen (to catch the rats?). Lots of Russians, drinking vodka at 10 a.m. Only the bar staff were all very polite, forget all the others. Dirty towels and bedsheets, warm pool water and very smelly horses in front of the hotel. Millions of flies around the hotel want to kill your nerves.

“OK Hotel”

We needed a cheap last minute holiday and we got a good one. We decided not to take onboard some of the reviews but to have our own experience. DO NOT BOOK YOUR TRANSFER wait until you get there its much cheaper (30 Dinars or 15 pounds ) for two if you take one of the coaches which taking other hotel guests. A bit more expensive if its a taxi. The rating of the hotel said 4 star but as season travellers we would say 3star, however it was clean, the housekeepers try to make it as comfortable as possible....at least the one we had KAMOUN RAFIKA . We were very disappointed in the food but we had to eat. they had only three different types of wine one red, white and a rose and the were just basic. Make sure u brush up on your frence as you will need it. Only a few of the hotel staff speak english so its difficult trying to explain anything to them. If traveling with english speaking kids you are in for a hard time as the animination team do not cater for english kids. The hotel was packed with german and frence guests and we found a lot of them rude.... After all thats said we had a good time in Tunisia. would not rush to go back though! What really make the holiday for us was we went on a couple of excursions one a two day trip taking in a trip to the colliseum in el jem where they filmed gladiator fantastic. and also camel riding in the sahara desert and watching the sunset, visited a oasis and visited the cave homesof the berber people in matmata. and other things. absolute must loved it. A long trip buts its a MUST. ( 180 dinars or 90 pounds each) well worth it******* We hired a private taxi and driver for (150 dinars 75 pounds) from 8am to 6pm we went to TAKROUNA, MONSTAIR, KAIROUAN the medina and SOUSSE. We had lunch in Sousse which was lovely the driver was very kind and helpful and no pressure.
