Ok first let me start by saying that you should ignore any bad reviews regarding this hotel as I can only think that the people who wrote them either paid HUGE amounts of money or are very hard to please!
My partner and I paid £500 each for two weeks including our transfers ( which worked out at £30 for the two of us ) and we were very happy with what we got for our money.
The transfer from Monastir airport took just under two hours and we arrived around midnight. The hotel reception staff were lovely and immediately offered us a meal each and a drink before we retired to our bedroom - we thought that was a very nice touch!
We stayed in room 166 which is in the main part of the hotel overlooking the sea - fantastic view! A useful tip = I would recommend that ( unless in a wheelchair obviously ) when you book if you have the option for sea views or a high floor apartment you should go for it as the little bungalowes around the complex don't look as nice and there are no views for them. As the main section of the hotel has only 3 floors it is not as if there are tons of stairs either!. In our room we had a nice spacious bathroom, a double bed and a single bed, tv and wardrobes etc. The only tv channel in English is BBC world news but you probably aren't going on holiday to watch telly - plus there is loads of entertainment to keep you busy! The animation team put on a live show each night and work throughout the day offering step classes, water aerobics, salsa classes, volleyball, darts, archery etc - you name it and they do it! We don't have children but the staff are great with the children and offer a kids disco, kids club and all sorts of activities so fabulous for families as well as couples or just by yourself.
The food can be slightly repetitive but there is so much choice that you can mix and match - loads of salad choices as well as hot food - certainly something for everyone no matter how fussy you are! Most of the hotel staff are lovely and get very excited to meet English guests - there were not many English guests whilst we stayed there ( just 3 couples over two weeks ) but that is one of the reasons we booked it - we like to just relax on holiday but if you are desperate to make new English friends on all of your holidays then this is not the hotel for you. Most of the guests are German, Polish, French and Russian and if you can speak French then it helps - we can't but had no trouble communicating with anyone.
The hotel has fantastic choices of pools - with water slides that everyone loves - especially my partner ( I recommend the yellow slide ) . The beach is lovely too...it is worth getting up early like a German and putting your towels down on the beach but even if you don't a lot of the other guests seem to move from the beach to by one of the pools frequently so there are usually sunbeds free again by lunchtime. ( worth getting a mattress for beach sunloungers otherwise they are a little hard ) Also there are so many sun loungers around the various pools you should not have a problem finding somewhere lovely to relax.
The grounds of the hotel are well kept, with a few stray kittens and cats wandering about - if you can then please try and sneak some meat or fish out for them and a cup of water as no one looks after them so they do rely on kind tourists : )
There are a lot of flies but the staff do spray the counters down often and unfortunately they is not much more they can do - you are in Tunisia afterall.
If you really spent a lot of time trying to find fault with this hotel you could, but if you have paid a good price then you get A LOT for your money - I go on holiday to relax not to photograph smudged paint on walls etc.
The towels and bedding are changed daily and the cleaners go to a lot of trouble making flower arrangments in your rooms.
The one small grumble I would have ( and I mean small ) is that the glasses they serve your drinks in are small so it's worth asking for two each at a time to save queueing but it is hardly a problem!
Overall this is a fab hotel and my partner and I miss it already : ( Before I forget there are a lot of shops within a ten minute walk including a few supermarkets, clothes shops etc and a big Market every Friday. Also the hotel has a small market in the grounds once a week on a Tuesday - but big Market is much better!
If you are going to this hotel then have a fabulous time!!! Lucky you!
