This was out third stay at the Paradise over an eight year period and it was nice to be welcomed back by the friendly staff.
Bad points - It's an old hotel, built sometime in the 70's so many of the rooms are beginning to show signs of wear and tear. The hotel IS being renovated slowly on a room-by-room basis (with the Harbour-view rooms coming last - ask when you reserve your room). The swimming pool needs new chairs and sun beds. The breakfast was fine BUT dinner is probably best eaten outside the hotel (very limited menu choice and quite expensive compared to restaurants in the town - this needs to be rethought by the hotel)
Good points - Huge rooms (Harbour view) and gorgeous gardens. Convenient pick up for whale watching and scuba diving. The swimming pool is quite clean (The one at the Pua hotel is completely unuseable!) The staff are friendly (admittedly they do make mistakes - like with taking messages but the manager is doing her best with a staff training programme). The Paradise does have its faults but is by far and away the best place to stay in Vava'u.
