We just spent 12 wonderful days of rest at Hacienda Baza Hotel in Tibana, Boyaca, Colombia. The hotel is located approx 2 hours from Bogotá by road in the Andes. The area is probably the safest in the country and there has never been a conflict problem in Tibana or surrounding areas. Baza is a secret well kept by the local diplomats and local stars hiding from cameras.
The hotel is built on what was previously a dominican monastery and dates from 1638. Only 12 rooms. The area is silent, old, romantic, but has all the mod cons you need, if not luxurious. The food is traditional, and delicious. You can stay in suites for $160.000 a night, not more than US$60, including food. The temperature is warmish during the day and cold at night. A great sample of a true Hacienda and a great opportunity to know the real Andean Colombia.
