We stayed one night before our salt flats tour. Our experience was the rooms and corridors were dark and cold and v basic. Sometimes this doesn't matter except this was more expensive vs a much nicer hostel we then stayed in on our return from the tour. Also they have posters everywhere saying 5 min max shower and they bang on window of bathroom if ur longer. There are better options elsewhere so I would give a wide berth unless necessary. Have come to expect better from Hostelling International.

We arrived late at night (11pm) after travelling all day on the bus/train from La Paz. We had phoned to reserve a room before taking the train and written down the price (30B for a single room and 60B for a double). On arrival, we were told that there were no showers and that the price was now 35B for a single and 70B for a double, despite the price having been confirmed in advance. When we asked to look at a room before deciding, the woman rudely said no and pushed us out the door. So, despite making a reservation in advance, we found ourself having to walk around a deserted town late at night with our suitecases looking for a room. I strongly recommend avoiding this place completely. It is a disgrace to the HI association.

The owners let us in and found us a spot when we arrived on the train in the middle of the night and let us in when it was freezing out!! They also helped us book a good deal on a trip to the Salar de Uyuni for 3 days which was great! they really helped us out alot! Nothing special about the hostel, the water was cold, it think something was broken, but we were just happy to be somewhere safe! I would reccomend them for sure to book your trip to Salar de Uyuni!
