...Hotel Continental Altamira was a really good hotel.

I will keep this review as brief as possible.

PRO's:
-Great shower water pressure (you will need to massage your aching muscles from sleeping on the torture rack that is in the bedroom).
-Great cross ventilation (The A/C performance is unreliable).
-Location. Close to the Altamira Metro Station and good restaurants.

CON's:
-No internet service in the rooms. Spotty performance in the lobby.
-Two, very thin, towels per room (yes I was lucky). No hand towels, no wash cloths.
-The bed(s). Very Hard.
-A/C. Does not work all the time and when it works it is as if it didn't.
-Decor. Perfume ads????
-Carpeting. Must be, at least, ten years old. ..and no padding!
-T.V. sets in the room. Cheap 19" units with remote controls that must be reset by hotel staff.
-Structure Maintenance. No words here. Just take a look at the photos I uploaded.
-Toilets. Is this a hotel or a high school?

The only good thing about this hotel is the Italian restaurant you will find across the street.
The rooms are run down and dirty.
No internet at the rooms and the lobby wifi work sometimes...
The rate was raised to the double on April to about $200 if you pay with credit card or the official exchange.
Don’t bother and find other place...

The room was moldy with bad smell.
The water in the sink hardly drained.
The room had mosquitos that bit me through clothes.
The balcony door did not lock or close all the way.
One towel for two people. Had to ask five times for additional towels.
Internet is only at the lobby which is full of mosquitos.
Make sure you bring bug repellant.
The continental breakfast included three pieces of toast.

What does $175 a night get you? Mold on the ceiling, balcony doors that may or may not lock, a dirty bed, and 3 pieces of white bread toast for the included continental breakfast. Oh, and a little bit of theft. I had books stolen from my room, but was luckier than the man next door, who had a watch and computer stolen from his room. This was suprising, given the location in Caracas and the appearance of security in the hotel. My room clearly hadn't been cleaned when I checked in (bed made, but with someone else's hair on the sheets, and trash in the cans) and had some mold issues. Fortunately, the staff is nice and it's pretty easy to move to a different room if needed. Hotel rooms in Caracas are in short supply, so make sure to book early.
