the Lincoln Suites is a mixed bag - as is implied in existing reviews on the TP site and elsewhere.

i noted before going that some found the location great, others terrible. the truth is that both statements are true. on the plus side the hotel is located close to the incredibly efficient and fast metro. on the negative is that it is in a seedy and run-down part of downtown. rubbish is strewn everywhere, roads are bad, the back alleys are threatening etc.

as for the hotel itself, it is not what i would call business class. the rooms are large - or at least mine was; but the decor is ageing, the standard of cleanliness is only adequate and the room smelled of old cigarettes. the furnishing is bog standard 70s formica.

the meals are adequate - though breakfast is pretty meagre and samey for this class of hotel. the service is cheerful if rather incompetent. cutlery and crocery seem to be at a premium too.

in terms of general facilities, though the lobby etc is perfectly ok there is a lack of atmosphere and ambience in the public spaces - the bar is dead for example.

so this is an OK hotel - not great, but not awful either. if it has a virtue then it is price. about 200 metres away is the Gran Melia which is a great hotel, fancy bar etc. i was quoted 275 dollars a night there. i paid 75 bucks at the LS. My advice? get the best of both worlds: drink in the bar of the melia and stay at the LS ...
