We stayed at the Venetur Margarita in July, we had a presidential suite, I think, which is spectacular, is practically a two bedroom apmt. with Jacuzzi in the balcony and ocean view. There were minor things that failed during our stay but people were incredibly friendly and always helping and trying to make our stay pleasant. My children love the pools with slides, the beach is nice, wonderful temperature. I think it is an incredible place to stay. We had a great time.

This hotel once was a Hilton. Then, after being nationalised, it became government-owned and run. Day by day it is getting further from its five-star heydays, despite still announcing itself as such.
This said, from the outside the place still looks nice and the lobby is just what you´d expect in a five-star place. Yet the rooms are another story - they lack absolutely anything beyond the dire basics. Two towels per person, one soap, one shampoo, one shower gel. Nothing more. No extra toiletries, no hairdryer, no minibar, no laundry service, no room service, no hotel directory nor local attraction overview, just an empty room with furniture. Cleanliness was not an issue, however the inside of the room looked like a 2-star place at best. Needless to say there was no internet in the rooms and in the lobby there were no power outlets close to sitting places.
Breakfast was OK though and there were no issues regarding the staff either. However this place is not what it pretends to be - a five-star hotel; it´s rather a decent three stars now. So don´t expect much and watch your value.

We were very pleased with the experience and especially appreciated the members of staff who spoke English with us, Yessica and Maria! These young ladies are indeed special and their love of their work radiates with their smiles! The hotel grounds are postcard pretty and the pool is unreal to experience! What a delightful place we called "home" for two weeks!
