I was worried about the condition of our Time Share but I was pleasantly surprised. We had a presidential suite (room 743) the best in the resort! We had sun the entire day on our HUGE deck., including our own hot tub. Rooms where clean, although the carpets need replaced, and well stocked. Staff was not only friendly but helpful. The travel agent there speaks great english and was VERY valuable, she arranged all of outings. Food was very good, especially the club house and the hamburgers! There is also a very nice mall across the street with great restaurants. We felt very safe walking there. The taxi's where always there to take you anywhere and inexpensive too. The pool area is beautiful and the water slide was a lot of fun. It does need a little TLC ie weeding but they were doing that when we were there. I am happy we spend our two weeks there!

I just returned from Hotel Macanao (formerly Hilton Margarita & Suites) and I must confess I was very apprehensive because of a negative review which I read on this site. However, I can now categorically state that the hotel remains in very good condition and the service is fantastic. My partner and I spent 1 week at the hotel and it was great! The suite was well appointed and comfortable, housekeeping was thorough and provided daily, the premises were clean and in good order and the service was exceptional. This was my 5th visit to Margarita Island in the past 8 years and it was by far the best. I look forward to planing my next trip to Hotel Macanao very soon!

April 2010. We stayed here for one week and then were stranded by the Icelandic volcano - this meant a two week stay. All the staff we met in both weeks were always courteous and always spoke to us.

We stayed in the suites - first a one bedroomed and then a studio. Both were spotlessly clean. We were provided with clean, extra towels each day.

The pools and gardens are magnificent. Each evening all pools are sanitized. Each morning all pools are cleared of sand by the pool staff and there is an army of gardeners on hand at all times. The flower arrangements in the foyer part were always delightful. The in-hotel shops are pricy ( as you would expect). The small Rattan store sells esssentials, though no fresh fruit or veg. Prices for beer, wine, bread etc are comparable with the stores nearby. You can walk to Unicasa but it is a trail back with heavy goods. The restaurant is very clean and very reasonable. The price is lower than most in the La Vela Shopping Centre - Santo Coyote is the best there. Hotel restaurant is usually a la carte but does have theme nights. All prices are good value for money and excellent quality. The restaurant was never crowded when we ate there.

There was never a mouldy smell as one reviewer writes. We were in the Suites part so cannot comment on the hotel building. Both parts share the foyer area.

The staff are very helpful whatever you ask. Most speak some English and many speak fluent English. I highly recommend this hotel.

People that wrote good comments for this DUMP have NO idea what Service and Clean rooms should be like!!!!! This is a complete DUMP. Don' t beleive it, waste your money and stay there one night, that is all that it takes one night. The Mold smell will drive you out of there running.
