This hilltop hotel overlooking a beautiful part of Beaver Lake is the perfect place for a
"get-away." Recently renovated, our room was clean, new, and nicely decorated; the double-sized bath and walk-in shower were Roman-tiled and spacious, and, there was a mini-fridge/microwave area behind a leather loveseat with coffee and other drinks. Best of all, a huge balcony overlooked one of the most beautiful views we have ever seen! We literally opened our double doors to the balcony and watched the sunrise from bed! Bring your binoculars if you think of it, as you can see the Christ of the Ozarks statue (in Eureka Springs, to the northeast) looking right at you.
As far as what we wanted--a quick, relaxing getaway without interruptions--there were NO negatives to the Lodge at Whitney Mountain. Since the restaurant on the property is closed--only available for weddings and special events on the property--we did go to a nearby town (20 minutes away?) to eat dinner....that was okay with us, since we wanted to watch the Razorbacks play (the large-screen TV in our room, which had lots of good channels and ballgames, didn't happen to cover the Arkansas game). The owner of the Lodge told us they are planning on opening the restaurant for reservations after the New Year.
If you are in the area of Northwest Arkansas, or planning on passing through, and wish to experience something special and different, remember this place. It will definately relax and restore you--in our opinion, this is a "best-kept secret" in the Ozarks, and word is going to soon get out!
