“An unforgettable view.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

We were warmly welcomed at Wyndswept where we stayed in the Pocahontas Room. From here there is an unforgettable view and only the road noise from below detracts from its beauty. The colours as the sun rises are particularly memorable, worth sleeping with the curtains back to catch it all.
Breakfasts were good and we enjoyed the convivial company and lively conversations with Bob and fellow guests.
Wyndswept is certainly a good B&B, but comparing it with the others that we stayed in during our trip to BC and Alberta which were equally good and in some cases had equally stunning views, it is expensive.

“Just simply a great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Jackie and I choose to stay at B&Bs on our trips because you generally meet such wonderful people - Wyndswept was no exception Bob and Glenda were lovely.

Bob's breakfasts were delicious and his recommendations for things to see and do were really helpful.

We booked the Chickadee room which was a great self contained haven after a day of hiking and sightseeing. It has it's own TV room, separate bathroom and also view to the garden and mountains.

Although it's a longish drive to Jasper we enjoyed seeing the three bull Elk that were fattening themselves up on the roadside grass everyday.

Our trip took us on a loop from Calgary through Jasper and Kamloops to Vancouver. Wyndswept was the perfect base for our time in and around Jasper.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent.

Thank you for your review, we are always happy to know guests take the time to respond about us.Yes we too like the drive from Jasper to Wyndswept as you never know what you will see and often there is more wildlife on the east side of the park, the mountains and river are stunning any time of the year. The roads and highways here are easy to ride and never congested, most of our guests chose us as we are away from the hustle and bustle of a tourist town. Thanks again.Glenda

“Swept Away at Wyndswept”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

I had always wanted to visit the Lake Louise area of the Canadian Rockies, so when my friend, Alice, with whom I take trips every couple of years, suggested this itinerary, I jumped at the chance. Alice did all the research and booking of the hotels, and was especially excited about a Bed & Breakfast she found, about 30 minutes outside Jasper, called Wyndswept.

Wyndswept is at the end of a residential cul-de-sac, and unless you had the address, you would have no idea it was a bed and breakfast. However, the minute you drive up, you are greeted by the friendly owners who help with your bags and make you feel immediately at home, You are asked to remove your shoes in the front hallway, which is only inconvenient if you have on lace-up shoes. Alice had booked the Honeymoon "Suite" because of its extraordinary view, not because we were on our honeymoon! (All the beds at Wyndswept are king-sized,)

If breakfast is your meal and you don't care about your weight, then you've come to the right place. As Glenda had badly hurt her knee, she was not able to helm the kitchen for a few days, so husband Bob gallantly took over the duties of chief cook and bottle washer. His breakfasts were truly works of art beginning with compotes of fresh berries and fruit in yogurt, huckleberry French toast, quiche, and back bacon (what we south of the border refer to as Canadian bacon--who knew??). Each breakfast was a gourmet delight, made even more enjoyable by Bob's engaging stories of close encounters with bears and life in wild Alberta. Yes, they do provide guests with bear bells and backpacks.

After a long day of sightseeing and hiking, it was a joy to come back to Wyndswept and luxuriate in the Jacuzzi tub, write old-fashioned post cards while watching the sunset, and pick a movie from their extensive DVD library. All rooms have large, flat-screened TVs.

So, if you're looking for accommodations that are not your run of the mill chains ,do yourself a favor and stay at Wyndswept. It really will sweep you away!

Room Tip: Ask for the Honeymoon Suite, even if you're not on your honeymoon!. Of the three rooms, this one...

“Wyndswept-abreath of fresh air -travel wise!”

Away for 9 weeks, 5 star stays, the Gold Leaf Rocky Mountaineer,a return to Alaska on the Daimond Princess and overland to Danalli/Mt Mckinley before a 30 day cruise back to Australia on the Radiance of the Seas, we chose Wyndswept as a B & B stay with a difference. We were not dissapointed.
It gave us the travel variation we sought. Don't expect 5 star -its not; but our three night stay was only shared for one night with one other young couple and at all times we felt we had the run of the house if we wanted. Glenda had an injury and Bob took over. The breakfasts were all that any one could want with great variety and flair. Bob's good humour and assistance/guidance worked well and complimented the Gypsy Guide GPS tour commentary we hired from Avis.
Even though we were a way out of town regarding Jasper, the drives in and about each day were varied and spectacular with a break from the ever present tourist hot spots. If you are a seasoned B & B guest or just wanting the type of difference to do something that is a break form the norm we think you can be well satisfied with Bob and Glenda's unobtrusive offering

“A disappointment after reading the reviews.”

We stayed for four nights in September which in retrospect was a mistake. The property is in a lovely setting with wonderful mountain views but a little too far from Jasper for us. The rooms were clean and Glenda gave good recommendations as to the best sights to visit. She very kindly offered to do some laundry for us which was very much appreciated.
Regretfully the stay didn't work for us. We found breakfast too intrusive with trying to eat whilst being told stories some of which we found unbelievable. We left early on the fourth day and gave breakfast a miss.
We found the local restaurants ordinary to say the least especially after Banff.

Thank you for your review. We wish you would have said something to us. Our website and the confirmation which everyone receives, states our location, so guests may review and accept before they get booked in.

I am sorry that the stories of local heritage and activities/experiences did not meet your approval. The majority of B&B guests pick Bed and Breakfasts for the breakfast conversation. We like all our guests to have memorable times in the Jasper area and we try and ensure this occurs by being upfront from the get go, so when I hear that someone has had issues I wish we could have talked so I could have helped correct them. Thanks again for the review, sorry you were upset about the Jasper area. Bob
