“The only option in Bosra; beware that pricing is crazy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2010

This is only option in Bosra, and the city absolutely requires an overnight stay (despite what Lonely Planet suggests), so you will end up here. It is a good hotel, but really overpriced. To get a lower rate you have to call the Cham central reservation office.
PROS
- Location, right behind the Roman theatre
- Quiteness, the hotel is like a cathedral in the desert, so you will be probably one of the few guests
CONS
- Pricing, as in all Cham Hotels, is totally crazy. We called the central reservation office and we got a price of 78 euro, then upon checkin the same day we were presented with a rate of 140 euro! We called the central office in front of the concierge so that he could hear the rate we were expecting to pay, and of course he had to agree.

“Overpriced, poor service, poor food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2009

We stopped at this hotel for just one night and were disappointed with the poor service and poor food in the restaurant. The girl at the check in desk spoke poor English and there was no help with our luggage until we began carrying it in ourselves. The gardens outside were neglected, the swimming pool was dirty and another pool was half full of dirty water. Our room was spacious, clean and had a good view of the ruins. But our buffet meal in the restaurant that evening was expensive and the chicken was dry and almost inedible and the standard much worse than any other hotel we stopped in. The service was slow and surly. The coffee at breakfast was horrid and undrinkable. We asked to be allowed to have the room up until 10 am, but were told that it was needed for new clients straight away - this was at 8.30 am - and so we had to vacate early. We were then told that the card machine was not working so we were forced to pay the bill in euros, which used up all our remaining supply. We left feeling distinctly unhappy, but it is the only hotel in Bosra (why?) and appears to mainly cater for package tourists travelling in groups.

“Overpriced but few alternatives”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2009

Stayed there for one night around Christmas with my family. Booking online didn't work, so contacted hotel directly on same day. Got a quote for about 260 euros, while many books such as Lonely Planet mentioned 170 dollars. It seems in general that during 2008, Syrian travel industry switched all prices from dollars to euro, without changing the actual number.

The hotel has a slight retro feel to it, like it was supposed to be grand 20 years ago, but hasn't changed much since. Service was fine, though the hotel was mostly empty at the time, and it felt a little bit like a ghost house at times.

Rooms were ok, no luxury, and a little worn on the edges, but at least the heating worked.

The in-house restaurant had a buffet in the evening, which wasn't really interesting. Included breakfast was typical Syrian, but fine.

Location is great, a short walking distance from the Roman ruins.

Overall, this hotel is vastly overpriced, but that is probably due to the fact that there are really no other hotels around, and they probably cater mostly for 1 day stays of organized groups.
