Oh my God... were do I start, we booked this hotel thinking after reading the reviews that no hotel could be that bad... how wrong was I.. We were travelling to Pembrokeshire and didnt fancy an 8 hour drive and be tired when we got there, so we decided to travel half way along the "A" roads, have a nights stay a meal a bottle of wine, then up fresh and travel to meet up with family for a suprise. We had pre-booked and only booked our ajoining accommodation for the next day for 4 nights, as anyone who has a pet, it seems it is difficult to find accommodation for people travelling with pets why I dont know..?
Anyway we arrived at 10 am to be told that we couldn't check in until 2 pm, I was annoyed that we had asked to check in early, so we decided to walk around the town, which takes around 30 mins to do so, lucky for us the weather was very warm so we sat in the park with a sandwich and a drink, the park is beautiful and quaint.......
We went back to check in, and the receptionist/cleaner gave me a key, and told me that as we had a dog, my husband couldnt walk through the main hotel but to meet me at the basically fire door... or annex, whilst walking through I couldnt quite take it in, I thought are they having a laugh... It was like a waiting room, with sofas facing nothing and a big tv..? the ceiling was chip board, badly painted and to comply with fire regulations, they had the smoke alarms stretched ontop of the chip board {highly amusing}.
So I get to the room with the key and both doors are open with a chair in the way, one room {our room} the beds were not even made, so I wet back to reception and swapped the room, and was greeted with a well the rooms are not normally ready until 2 pm... the door didnt shut into the bathroom, the carpet was badly staineed and did not look like it had been cleaned in months, the walls were miscoated with paint, and the middle bits left I kid you not... The net curtains looked like they had seen better days, and the smell was horrific, my pooch looked at me to say are you kidding me my shed is cleaner...
The doors are so thick of paint that they squeak when you open them...these rooms are l worse than butlins....I actually slept ontop of the bed, with a towel over me fully clothed, as I
didnt want to get under the covers, I didn't use the kettle or cups or ear of cathcing something, {however they did have ample tea, coffee and sugar should you need it} the only good point was the lcd tv, which ironically worked,, but was on an old stand to fit a 14" portable tv!
The laminated sheet was sticky to tell you about the hotel and breakfast, we had the wost nights sleep ever, we oth ended up in our coats and towels over us on one single bed during the early hours and to add insult to injury we were trappeed as check out was 9 am! we were awake from 630 am and went out with the dog, re-packed the car and stayed on the park, we decided against breakfast and just wanted to get out, we didnt even shower as there was no hot water...
Upon checking out, the receptionist was not interested in our stay, I wanted to walk out without paying and wish I had done so now...I reluctantly gave her the remainder of the money, plus the additional £10 for the dog...????
Our meal ended up being, a bottle of wine and chips, the ironic thing was when we got to Lamphey we were shattered, we both had a lovely hot shower in our lovely clean cottage it was bliss, we went to the farmers market but ended up in bed at 8 pm...thinking back we wished we had booked 5 nights at the cottage.
The best thing that can happen to this hotel is: "Bulldose it, set fire to it".....How anyone can say its "lovely" is beyond me...
It truly is that bad....
