“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We used the Ferryboat Inn for one night as we were catching the morning Stena sailing. The reviews suggested it was a good option in the absence of any local lo-cost hotel options. We were very happy with our stay. We arrived late so no welcome but we were given the code for front door access and our key and room instructions were waiting. Rooms are small but we expected that and it was perfect for one night. Room was contemporary and comfortable. Close examination might suggest a re-paint is due within the next 12 months but that's being really picky. Breakfast wasn't quite of the standard I expected (small portions) and service was a little relaxed, i.e. not everything was on the table but waitress was friendly. Our car was fully loaded with too much stuff to take into the house but the location felt safe enough to leave things in the car. The ferry was just a couple of minutes drive. Good choice overall.

“Not 5 star but good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Ideally placed for the ferry to Ireland and although the restaurant was not open on the night we were there we managed a meal of sorts elsewhere. Breakfast was very good and you could do much worse.

“Food really good, room really small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

Dont give up when you cant find anyone at the hotel even after the 3 PM check-in time shown. Eventually you will find someone (or call the phone number). Room was very small but overall tastefully done. TV projects and is a head-banger. Food in the restaurant very good. Waitress was very good.

“What a fantastic place!”

We ended up at the Ferryboat Inn by accident: After we'd missed our 2:30pm ferry and realized we'd have to spend the night, several people recommended the Ferryboat Inn. Turned out they'd just had a cancellation for a "one-bedroom with extra bed," so we grabbed it. The man who checked us in was very friendly, and warned us that it wouldn't be a huge room -- it wasn't, but what it lacked in space it made up for in comfort! It had the most comfortable beds of our whole trip, and the best shower -- hot, and full water pressure. After resting for a bit, we headed downstairs to the restaurant for dinner -- YUM! It was one of the best meals of our entire trip: sea bass over a delicious bean salsa, with new potatoes, and an amazing chocolate tart with berries and cream for dessert. The staff was very attentive and genuinely friendly, and the whole place had a great atmosphere of relaxed welcome. We struck up a conversation with a couple at the next table over and ended up talking for at least an hour -- a perfect end to a lovely evening. Breakfast was excellent the next morning, and then it was a short, 10 minute walk down to the ferry dock to catch the ferry. Thank goodness we missed it the day before, or we wouldn't have had such a great experience at the Ferryboat Inn.

“Everything you could ask for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

I stayed at the Ferryboat Inn prior to a trip to Ireland which entailed a late arrival (01:30). The hotel is clearly used to this, given the times of the Rosslare ferry, and text or email you a password for late arrivals. Just a word of warning about arriving late by foot - there are no streetlights, but the entry key pad is lit. The rooms are very modern and well fitted out. I had a single room with power shower and complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was self-service for toast, cereals and fresh fruit salad (definitely not out of a tin!) and cooked breakfast was cooked to order. All in all a gem whether you're travelling to Ireland or just exploring the local area.
