“Great value and place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2010

This was our first trip away together, which turned out to be extremely good value. We went on one of their summer weekend deals and weren't expecting much from a B&B at this price but the rooms were clean and well decorated. Although the staff not extremely friendly, they just left us to it which was good for us. The breakfast was really good and you could ask for exactly what you wanted.
We agree that the bar noise was loud when the locals went outside but we were out at night and it didn't bother us.
Barmouth is generally a nice place to go and this B&B appears to be the best place to stay.
I'll put it this way, we would go again.

“Unfriendly staff and no car park.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2009

First shock on arrival was the news that there was no car park. The only place to park is the sea front pay and display ( this means that you have to go back to the car the next morning to feed the pay machine to avoid a ticket when charging begins again at 8.00 a.m.). The staff are the least friendly that I have ever met. To smile would kill them. The only bar in the hotel is shoddy beyhond belief, the paintwork pre-dates the smoking ban by many years and is coated with nicotine. the furniture is poor and the carpets worn out. We could not bear to eat here, so cannot coment on the bar food.
On the positve side, our room was clean, well decorated and comfortable. The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful.

“Very clean, comfortable. Breakfast not great. A bit noisy at times.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2009

We booked this for my husbands birthday, it was book 2 nights, get 3rd free. Bargain. I looked at the website and the pictures of the rooms do seem a little off-putting, very bright wallpaper and bed covers, but they are actually really lovely and clean. The bed was more like a king size than a double and the bedding was a very high quality. The bathroom was small but spotless and nicely tiled and decorated. There were always plenty of complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits left everyday.
There is a locked door policy at mid-night which didn't bother us as Barmouth is not a late night town.
Our room was at the side of the hotel and there was noise from the pub below which is only to be expected, apparently you can avoid this if your room is at the back.
The breakfast however was a bit of a let down. The breakfast room is just lovely, there was fresh fuit, cereal and juices on the dresser. We served ourselves with these and sat down to wait for the waitress to take our order, she came in at 8.30(breakfast was 8 til 9) She didnt appear to want to be there at all.
When another guest asked if it would be possible to have a poached egg, she told her "No because we use free range eggs and you cant poach them, they just disperse"
The breakfast was a bit of a let down, just not well cooked at all. On the second day we asked for boiled eggs, they were allowed but they were snotty. My husband mentioned that they were not cooked and the look he got was unbelievable! She asked" So you want hard boiled ones then, is that it?" he just said yes as it seemed easier than arguing and she brought some back that were as snotty as the first! We didnt breakfast there on our last day.
That aside, we had a fantastic weekend and we would consider staying there again as it was cheap but we'd give the brekkie a miss!

“long weekend”

Nice break, right in the middle of Barmouth.
A bit loud at night, from bar underneath room up till around 12pm, outside the street was noisey till 2pm on Saturday night, didn't bother us too much, but if you like quiet and still want to stay near the centre I suggest you ask for one of the rooms on the top floor at the back, then you won't hear the noise as the walls appear to be made of foot wide granite :-)
Fantastic beer garden if you like to smoke, best covered area I have ever seen for smokers!
Comfy bed, shower was great, nice wall paper.
