We visited Ullapool last summer (2011) and not having had a chance to book any accommodation, chanced our luck at Point Cottage who could not have been more accommodating. The owners made us feel so welcome and were able to offer lots of useful information about the area and where to eat. Sometimes hosts can be quite over obtrusive when all you want to do if get up to your room and have a cup of tea but Hannah and Donald were not like this at all. They were friendly and knowledgeable without being too in your face! The house sits right on the harbour, practically on the beach and has spectacular views.
Hannah made us aware that they were going to be refurbishing the house soon but we still found our rooms to be well appointed, comfy and clean. The room felt spacious and had all the usually bits and bobs - tv, hairdryer, tea tray, toiletries and a seating area. The beds were comfy and we slept well.
Breakfast was second to none, we had everything we could have wanted and more! The full scottish was lovely and my husband said his haddock with a poached egg was one of the best breakfasts he has had - high praise indeed considering my husband is a chef!
We only wished we had time to stay longer at Point Cottage. A definite gem in Ullapool and one we will be back to stay at!
