Architecturally striking outside, comfortable and traditional inside, with lots of books and pictures. Anne and her son Julian are charming hosts with a lovely home, and it is a privilege to share it. Our balcony room was excellent and had a fabulous view over the loch and towards Ullapool.

The food was of the highest possible standard. It's not for those who want chips and cheesecake, as what you will get is the highest quality ingredients, imaginatively presented and cooked to perfection.

Our family stayed at Tanglewood House for three nights over a long weekend. The two rooms were perfect for our needs with views of the loch and Ullapool. The cooked breakfasts were amongst the best ever experienced. The dinners were creative and beautifully presented. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We were made to feel quite at home and a part of the Holloway family.
Anne and Julian are to be congratulated for the warmth of their welcome, their attention to details and their other many efforts to make our stay so enjoyable.

Tanglewood is an intriguing and charming house in a superb location with wonderful views across Loch Broom. We felt very welcome and enjoyed excellent breakfasts.

first impressions of Tanglewood were very good, Anne was very hospitable and offered us a cup of tea and piece of homemade cake and showed us to our room. it was very clean but not the balcony room i had been hoping for and it was quite small. The views over the loch are lovely.
What i found concerning was when we asked out keys for our room it became clear that there were no locks on the door, when we asked Anne about this we were told it was because it was a private house...ehm, but charging guests £96 per night does not constitute that it is a private house. i've never stayed anywhere were the door was not lockable.
I really like dogs and the owners dogs were lovely, but not in the dining room scrounging at the dining table when we were having our breakfast.
The breakfast was ok, but nothing great.
I think there has to be a clearer division between the business end of the b&b and the owners own accomodation to bring it up to the mark.
