We stayed here for 1 night before getting the ferry to Stornaway the next morning. It is in a very convenient position, a few minutes drive to the ferry terminal, and about a 10 minute walk into town for restaurants, shops, etc. As others have said the accommodation is very clean and comfortable, though a little dated. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, and it was a bonus to be able to use the guest laundry, at very reasonable rates, before setting off for 10 days on the islands. Excellent breakfast, with lovely views over the loch.

We reached the the Sheiling after a long drive across the far north and north-west of Scotland. We immediately felt welcome and continued to feel so. We are surprised by some reviewers' adverse comments about the proprietors' manner. We found them amiable and communicative.

Especially as we were only stopping one night, our room was adequate in size, well-stocked in every way, with a lovely view of Loch Broom. That view was enhanced by a post-breakfast stroll down the back garden to the water's edge, which we had been told on arrival that we were free to do.

The breakfast was nicely prepared and efficiently presented. At a price in the thirties per person per night with full breakfast as well as free sherry and sweeties, we are very glad we chose to stay here.

Recently had a quick trip to Ullapool for our Wedding Anniversary. The Sheiling was a lovely clean guest house right on the banks of Loch Broom. Nice warm welcome and information given from the landlady. Good Breakfasts. What really made it good for me was the beautiful views of the Loch. Absolutely gorgeous. Only a 10 minute walk into Ullapool. I would be more than happy to stay there again.

Ideal location and good b&b but the owners do little to make you feel welcome. We paid in advance and felt that because our money was already in that we were just an inconvenience. There was no effort to be friendly and when the sprung door closed too loudly this morning the woman came out of the kitchen and rudely told me to close it more quietly - fit a softer spring in your doors!!
