This was our third visit to Douglas House and again it did not disappoint!We have visited with an elderly parent and with a disabled friend and on each occasion nothingas too much trouble for our hosts. The decor is excellent and our breakfast was superb on every visit. If this was our house we would not want to share it. A return trip is definitely on the cards. Sue & Alan Parkinson - Sheffield

“The finest accommodation in South-West Scotland?”
Couldn't speak highly enough of this wonderful hotel.
Good vibe as soon as you walk in the front door. Rooms decorated to a very high level and so immaculately clean as to appear virtually new. Also felt very welcomed even with filthy mountain bikes in tow. Breakfast could not be faulted as there was plenty of choice and easily enough to set you up for the day.
A real treasure, without a doubt.

“Bright spot in the Grey Galloways”
After many years of visiting this region this is the first time we shall be returning to the same accommodation.
Excellent breakfast but as the owners were English rather than Scottish it was a full English rather than Scottish!
Room Tip: The twin bedded ground floor room has a fantastic en suite and corner outlook to the room.

“Run by experienced Hoteliers now retired,every detail thought through”
We can't recommend this highly enough.Efficient,friendly,immaculate tasteful decor,outstanding choice of cooked breakfast perfectly cooked.Beautifully laid brekfast table,Royal Doulton china,starched white napkins,quality cutlery.
All in all a beautiful experience.A local restaurant was even recommended and a table there arranged
I can't wait to find an excuse to revisit for a successful short break in this lovely area.
Room Tip: A spacious downstairs ensuite room was available if you are disabled

The Douglas House Hotel in Castle Douglas was a real treasure to find. It was reasonably priced and the immaculately clean room & bathroom were charmingly decorated. I would highly recommend this lovely place if you're staying in this area of Scotland. The hosts, David and Beverly Hughes, are also very accomodating and informative about the area.
Room Tip: I asked for a large enough room to accomodate us.

We remember having a good long chat with you whilst you were here early on in your trip but would just like to correct our names - we are Keith & Linda Harrison, not David and Beverley Hughes who we imagine were your hosts in another establishment.
