“Outstanding!”

We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary - and Kirroughtree certainly did not disappoint! From the first moment of arrival we knew we had indeed found that somewhere special.

The welcome was warm and friendly, the hotel itself was beautifully maintained both inside and out. We had booked a deluxe room. This proved to be extremely large with a separate sitting area, all beautifully furnished and well-equipped. The room overlooked the immaculate grounds and gardens and within a very short time we were lucky enough to see 2 red squirrels busy collecting food under our windows. A bonus indeed!

The food was excellent, well-cooked and beautifully presented and served, orders being taken in the comfortable lounge beforehand.

Everything about this hotel was excellent but its greatest asset must be the staff. Each one was courteous, efficient and friendly without being pushy or annoying. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return before too long.

“Still as good as out previous visits”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

We have stayed here before and were pleased to find the same level of service and food. The staff are all helpful and effiecient. Nice countryside and coast. Empty roads and free parking.

“Great to be pampered”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

We spent two nights here as a wee treat and that it certainly was. Our room overlooking the garden was large and most comfortable . It was not new or newly furnished but managed to look lived in without any shabbiness== the bathroom dated by its blue ceramics was likewise immaculate and did not =apart from the colour =look its age sufficient to say all was immaculately clean=== The food we had was probably the best I have ever had in my 65 plus years and as an ex butcher the lamb loin was almost historic== breakfasts were likewise =everything top quality and fresh . The staff were so professional and really seemed pleased to see us ==might be due to the fact that we were 2 of 7 guests each night==OK it was expensive but we used the golf course at the sister hotel Cally Palace 20 mins away free as part of the deal and if you take off the cost of 4 rounds of golf on a decent course it made the price good value --To sum up well be back soon I hope

“Wonderful taste of luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2010

Kirroughtree House is an outstanding hotel which provides an exceptional quality of service, which started when we were greeted by name as we unpacked our luggage from the car. Our standard room was spacious, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean whilst the food was of the highest standard. The restaurant service was impeccable. We had the same table for each meal of our 3 night stay, and after our first dinner the staff remembered who sat where (thus laying correctly for our chosen dishes) and when bringing food to the table always knew which one of us had ordered which dish. We felt delightfully pampered throughout.

The hotel stands in its own grounds where we were able to wander and sit, as well as (for one of us) a wood to explore.

Overall, our three nights half-board came to a little under £600 which we thought represented excellent value. Don't miss out on a treat!

“Superb Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

Room - Number 19, spacious and comfortable living area and bed space with great views to the front and side. Seating area with sofa and chair. Bed large and comfortable (blankets not duvet). Lovely window seat. Bathroom adequate but smaller than might expect for size of room and could do with an update as looking a little tired especially tiling and mirror. No real change to room since we stayed at the hotel 9 years ago and could do with a little bit of an update (particularly sofa and chair covers which are worn).

Staff - all excellent. Attention to detail and personal service included birthday card and cake for 40th birthday celebration.

Food - Excellent. Evening menu changed daily and four choices of main course including one veggie (4 course dinner). Presentation and quality of food is a key reason to choose this hotel. Great Scottish breakfast.

Hotel in general - Lovely atmosphere in this historic and traditional country house.

Nice touches
+ canapes before dinner
+ petit fours with coffee after
+ turndown service

Only gripes
- broadband internet is via T Mobile HotSpot, £5 an hour, £10 24 hours, £40 per week. We thought this was excessive as we've had free broadband in much more modest hotels.
- The room, although still lovely, could do with a bit of an update.
