“Whisky galore!”

First class acommodation where nothing was too much trouble for the three generations we met! Our room was on the ground floor having outstanding views across the loch. A large room with everything you could want for a comfortable stay. Apart from the TV, DVD, breakfast tray there were 2 armchairs nd a king size bed, the most comfortable i have ever slept in! We both could not have asked for a more first class, all you could eat, hearty breakfast with plenty of choice. for my husband, he thought he had gone to heaven when he saw the bar in the very large, comfortable lounge. We only stayed 4 nights, but if we had stayed for a year, he would still not have sampled every malt they had! We had a wonderful holiday, despite the weather, and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: front rooms have loch views, there is a main rd but very little noise.

“Ahh the whiskey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

What a great location. Situated on Loch Linnhe, our room was simple yet very clean & comfortable.
We didn't meet the owner as a new addition to the family was due.
This is a quaint old beauty & one can only imagine what it would have been like in it's "hay day".
A great selection of whiskeys that night, follwed by a wonderful cooked breakfast the next morning.

“Great history at Creag Mhor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

James Cholmeley Russell - barrister, financier, property developer and railway entrepreneur acquired Creag Mhor in the 1890s. It had originally been built in 1890 for the wife of the Episcopalian Bishop of Argyll. Family photographs show Russell, his family and friends relaxing in the grounds. It was at Onich that he kept his steam yacht "Madge"

JCR seems to have been a pioneer motorist, as two of the family "snap shots" show a large open car, of a make not identified, perilously balanced on planks on the Ballachulish ferry.

Russell died in 1912 with an estate valued in 2012 terms at around £15 million

I've not stayed here but it has a fascinating history and is well located

“What a wonderful place to be!!!”

During our trip around Scotland this was our fourth place to stay for two nights. Our travel agency booked for us something 'nearby Fort William' and that is what it was - calm situated with a beautiful first impression from outside. It has everything you need: parking spaces around, a pretty building and the Loch Linnhe vis-á-vis.
Our room (by the way it was number 11) was fantastic: spacious room, large windows down to the bottom and a view to the Loch. It was affectionately and tastefullly arranged, clean and proper. The whole house has a comfortable athmosphere, especially the lounge with its big sofas and its fireplace, which was lit for us by the owners. And not to forget the Whisky bar, with its numerous "treasures". It was a pleasure to talk with EVERYBODY of the staff (and to get learned a lot about). And there is free-WiFi.
We like to thank the owners and staff for their dedication to let us have a pleasant stay. Thanks for the reference of the seafood restaurants nearby (just try them out!), for finding out a riding place for us, for donating us the fantastic MARMELADE as a gift. And for having such nice conversation!

Summarizing: a very lovley place in Western Scotland from where you can reach a lot of sights and special places of the breathtaking nature of Scotland!

Next time we will stay a few more nights there.
We hope, our references will help you for your next trip to Berlin, like yours did :)

“Lovely place to stay”

We were originally meant to stay at the Onich hotel through a walking course company we were using, but they were double booked so arranged for us to stay here instead. On arrival we realised we had definitely got the better deal as the hotel was in a beautiful location, and the room was excellent. It had all the amenities we needed, and very friendly hosts available to give us advice and tended to anything we needed (including offering to get up early to help us get our gear out of the drying room).

The hotel has a small bar which is stocked with a very impressive range of whisky, as well as other drinks. It was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay here again.
