Nancy is to B&B what Michael Jordan was to basketball--she could just give you a bed and a breakfast, but she does it with such style and grace that you wonder how Lacock could possibly be the same without her and the cottage. She goes above and beyond to make you feel warm and welcome, and there is no way you could leave without feeling happy and wishing you could stay longer.

Attached to Nancy and Paul's house but very much self contained, staying at this perfect 1 up 1 down feels more like being a pampered house guest than paying visitor. The cottage itself is delightful with a huge fireplace, stone mullioned windows, window seats, old beams and a comfy bed with crisp white linen. There are numerous thoughtful touches: DVDs, chocolates, slippers, bathroom products to replace things you may have forgotten. And then, depending on the season no doubt, Nancy shared some of the delicious produce of her wonderful garden with us and gave us the lowdown on life in Lacock.

For those coming without a car, buses from Chippenham or Trowbridge stations are fairly regular and you'll be dropped in the centre of Lacock which is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the cottage.

Thatch Cottage B&B is certainly a great place to stay. We only booked for 1 night for a short break and we were made to feel so welcome, just a shame we didn't have more time to prolong our visit. The facilities were unique: the bonus of a lounge really makes it feel like self-catering but with the added extra of Nancy's wonderful hosting and breakfasts in her kitchen.

We would certainly return and recommend this lovely place to friends and family as its a rare find indeed! Thank you.

Everything about Thatch Cottage was perfect. The cottage and surrounding gardens were lovely and Nancy made us a wonderful breakfast, and as she is a steward at Lacock Abbey she could fill us in on any of the details about the Abbey and surrounds that we had missed. I will recommend the cottage to our friends.
