“Worth the Journey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Working in Gairloch and was very happy that my employer had put me in this hotel. Staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough. Best food I have ever tasted. Breakfast and evening meals were amazing. Going back again as a tourist so I can enjoy the area and the hotel again.

“Enjoy Wester Ross from the Myrtle Bank”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

We recently travelled to Gairloch (partly on business, partly for pleasure) and were fortunately recommended to the Myrtle Bank by a colleague. For a start it seemed to be the only Gairloch hotel open in November but in addition we were provided with excellent, friendly service, good food, and of course, an uplifting view across Loch Gairloch. What a wonderful area! Munro-baggers, don't forget Slioch and Ben Eighe (and the other dozen!) not to mention the magical- sounding village of Mellon Udrigle. Gairloch is a terrific centre, providing all the needs of the outdoor seeker.

“1000 % Improvement”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

I had last stayed in this hotel 7 years ago and it was not my most favorite experience. The rooms were untidy and in need of a good coat of paint, the food though was not bad. On Saturday 10th December 2011 I returned to Gairloch to work for the weekend and was booked into the Myrtle Bank Hotel. What a most pleasing experience, new owners and a hotel which has been totally refurbished. The reception was most welcoming with Anita and her cheery smile, I was soon booked in and up in my room to change for breakfast, the rooms are fantastic with all new beds and furniture, the onsuite shower room, I would like my bathroom at home to look as good as this. Downstairs in the dining room I was offered everything that you could possibly require for breakfast all served by Sean ( Anita"s husband). That evening the meals were truelly scrumptious, not only that but the meals were also cooked by Sean and Anita"s sons. This is a perfect family run hotel, and a great place to relax. I look forward to when I go back to Gairloch to work as I know where I want to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea.

I have recommended this hotel to many people all of which have been over the moon with their stay there. We have stayed several times a year for the last 3years and really enjoy our stay.and can't wait to be back again very soon already booked.
The hotel owners do spend a lot of money in keeping it upgraded as we can see on each of our visits. the menu is extensive with numerous choices at all levels.
The staff are very helpful , friendly and the service is excellent.
as for the carpets etc all of excellent quality . WE WOULD AND DO RECOMMEND THE MYRTLE BANK TO ALL OUR FRIENDS.

“Bit old fashioned for us”

We didn't receive a warm welcome. After check in we made our way to the room over all the tartan carpet and through old fire doors. The bed, sofa and bathroom were ok, but the view was great.

We spent a pleasant couple of hours in the sun room while the wind blew outside before heading to dinner.

Dinner was decent quality with an old fashioned menu (Prawn Cocktail, Gammon and Eggs, scampi etc). The portions were generous.

Breakfast was ok, but the water in the tea tasted funny. This was the same in a local cafe so not unique to the hotel.
