“Conference centre executive room = 4*”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stay in this hotel once or twice a month and over time have probably slept in most of the rooms. The room quality is very variable, with some of the older 'standard' rooms in the main part of the building above the bar being especially tired and in need of overhaul - if reviewing only those rooms, this would be a 3-star review. The other standard rooms in a separate, more modern, block are better, but not great. Better again are the executive rooms in another stand-alone block, although the hallway carpets are looking pretty worn. The best of the lot are the executive rooms in the conference centre - they look & feel modern and fresh.

Breakfast is self-serve hot buffet with the usual suspects as far as cereals/juices/pastries are concerned.

Every member of staff, without fail, has been friendly and courteous with a special 'well done' to the lady currently in charge of breakfast.

Probably the worst aspect of the hotel is nothing they can control - many of the rooms face towards the nearby church clocktower which chimes the time throughout the night - I had a colleague who slept for about 5 minutes one night. It's never effected me, but light sleepers should ask for a room facing away from the church.

The location to central Market Harborough couldn't be better and the free carpark is worth £4/day compared to the pay and displays in town, which adds to the already pretty good value for money.

Would I stay here again? Yes - next week in fact ... :-)

Room Tip: Executive rooms in the conference centre = WIN.

“Good value hotel - great food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I stayed for one night recently as I was working locally. The rooms are a bit dated but clean and more than adequate for a short stay.

I ate in the downstairs conservatory restaurant and the food was lovely. My only problem was that they only offer a set 4 course menu which was to much for me but at £14.95 very good value. The food was lovely and I would have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant.

“Lovely new years eve break.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

6 of us went to this hotel for the new years eve party break for two nights. The party night was very good with great dj and wonderful food. We did have an issue with no wine list on the table but we managed to get over this. The food in this hotel is very good and plentiful. Overall the break was very good but this hotel lacks a bit more organization especially in the dining room for breakfast on new years day. However we would return again and a good time was had by all. Happy new year.

“A Very Good New Year Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Just returned from a two night stay at this hotel with friends.

Staff couldn't have been nicer, food really scrummy and Joe who managed the venue was excellent.

Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Book early and if you are not good with stairs ask for a down stairs room, no problem with noise.

“Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

I have rated this hotel on a value for money basis. We paid £69 for room 68 which was a family room, a double bed and the sofa for our 11 year old daughter. Fng or £69 it was brilliant value - not luxury but comfortable - very large room, TV, tea & coffee etc. The bathroom was fine althought the shower was a bit tame and radiator didn't work.

We were in MH for a family Christmas get together so this suited us fine - very central and parking. We got breakfast the next morning at weatherspoons - £3.10 for full English or £1.89 for a sausage or bacon bap with a juice, tea or coffee - perfect!

This is a good base but don't stay if you want to impress or want to enjoy luxury. I cannot fault it on value for money - it does what it says on the tin!
