“A fabulous few days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The room and four poster bed were great. The food was lovely but the thing that made our stay was the staff. We stay in lots of hotels but the staff in this one get 10/10. Nothing was too much trouble. Lyme Regis was lovely. We loved the Mariners and would recommend it to anyone. Only thing to mention is it is great going downhill to the Beach and front but coming back is hard going if you are not 100% fit.!!!!!!! Lyme Regis is very hilly so wherever you stay you have this problem.

Room Tip: Thye four poster sea view Room 10 was perfect

“Perfect hotel for our Winter break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely hotel. We wanted somewhere small and friendly and that is exactly what this hotel is. It is a 450 year old building with real character but the interior is beautifully furnished and decorated with a comfortable lounge with stunning views of Lyme Regis and the bay. Our room overlooked Lyme Regis bay and and the hotel garden which was beautiful in the winter sunshine. The room and facilities were spotlessly clean - everything fresh and bright as if it had just been decorated and re-furnished. Lovely big bathroom with good toiletries. Just one complaint was the plastic lined undersheet on the bed - it crackled and slipped about the bed every time you moved!! We dined the 1st night in the restaurant and the food was so good we ate there each night we were there. A real gem of a chef. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly and were always ready to chat however busy they were - lovely people. We would definitely stay at the Mariners next time we go to Lyme Regis - maybe in the Summer when we could really enjoy the lovely garden.

Room Tip: Do choose a room with a view of the bay - our first room faced the road and we asked to change and i...

“Richard.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed for 5 nights bed and breakfast at the begining of December. We got a very good price and, although the room lacked any outlook and there was some noise penetration from the music system in the bar, it was beautifully decorated, had a lovely bathroom and was warm and comfortable. Breakfast comprised 1st Class ingredients well cooked and served. All the staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Lyme Regis out of season was charming, Dorset beautiful and this hotel a good base to explore both.

“The calm before Christmas”

We stayed for 3 nights the weekend before Christmas. The room number 9 has the most fantastic views over Lyme Regis and Lyme Bay all the way round to Portland Bill. The room was clean, well decorated and warm. The food excellent the staff very friendly and helpful nothing seemed to much trouble. We were the only people staying on our last night but this did not make any difference to the service we received. Hope to visit again in the near future. The weather was also very good sunny all day. Had a really restful break just before Christmas Would unreservedly recommend the hotel to anybody who wants a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle of a big city

Room Tip: The higher floor with a seaview are excellent

“Lovely place shame about the manager”

Had a nice stay here and got a good price through reallylatebookings.. which I think the owner/manager wasn't too happy about. We were the only ones there as it was a sunday night so you'd think he'd appreciate our custom. Admittedly the room was beautiful, decorated and furnished to a very high standard... the halls may be a work in progress! The Mariners also had a proper 'fine dining' restaurant attached which was a little too pricey for our pockets but the
included breakfast was excellent. Overall we would recommend the Mariners as the other staff were fine, just wish the boss could have been a bit friendlier
