My son and I were making a quick trip down to Dartmoor, to help clear away some cobwebs, and spend some time together. Harrabeer House was the perfect place to stay, and the hosts, Michael and Amanda were kind, sensitive and warm. The bedrooms were beautifully presented and very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was generous and delicious. Excellent ratings all round. We will definitely be staying here for any future visits to the area.

Took my Mum here in Janurary for one evening while we walked the moors. Excellent value and very comfy stay. The hotel is clean, cosy and well appointed. Great full English and bar to sit around in and chat to the early hours. Highlight was the friendly owners who were great fun and clearly enjoy having people to stay. Will be back for sure next time I am in this part of the world. They have self catering as well.

I stay away on business on average twice a week, traveling all over the country. It’s not often that I take the time out to write a review, but felt that I really should for this particular “Home from home”. Whether you stay here on business or for pleasure, for one night or a week, you are guaranteed to leave happy each morning that you leave for work or for your day’s leisure activities. Amanda and Michael are the best hosts that you will find anywhere. I was greeted by Amanda in the car park with the offer of tea and cake and shown to my room (unlike the plastic corporate hotels who tell you that you room is somewhere upstairs). The whole place is comfortable and welcoming, Amanda and Michael can’t do enough for you, and treat you as a real person with the right mix of professionalism and a balanced sense of humour. To top it all off, the food is great and cooked from fresh ingredients (no “chicken ding” here!) On reflection of my stay at the Harrabeer, I feel as though I have actually made new friends. I will be visiting again when next in the area whether fo business or pleasure. Many thanks Mike and Amanda.

We've stayed here on a couple of occasions now - which is unusual as we don't tend to stay in the same place more than once. Both times we have been made to feel very welcome and the owners could not have done more for us. It is set just off of a main road so while it is convenient for the Dartmoor National Park and Plymouth - which is about fifteen minutes away - it is easy enough to find and very quiet. Probably not that suitable for smaller children, though I have no doubt that they would be welcome. The establishment is in pristine order with the rooms being very comfortable. The food is very good - we only had breakfast (kippers are nice and meaty), but I believe that a limited evening meal is available as a supplement. My only reservation in recommending the Harrabeer is that it may be difficult for us to get a room the next time we visit the area. As an "approaching middle age couple", we find it meets our requirements and exceed our expectations.
