We stayed two nights at Plantation House .
We have often stayed at bigger and more expensive hotels but we cannot remember any that were better.
Very comfortable room, really excellent food, service that we last saw in a 5* Swiss hotel and above all an owner who cares.
Situated in wonderful countryside but the South Hams and Plymouth are very easy to reach.
Very highly recommended.

Plantation House is an excellent boutique hotel. The rooms are all nicely decorated - we had a look at several of them. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We ate each night in the restaurant and thoroughtly enjoyed the food - some of it caught or picked that day. We did not know that the restaurant was closed on the Sunday and had been expecting to dine in. As we are not people who like to go looking for restaurants in the evening and had booked db&b the chef kindly agreed to come in and cook us a meal - it was excellent - you cannot ask for better service than that. It is possible to hear the traffic on the nearby busy road so if you are a light sleeper I recommend you take some earplugs.

If you are heading down to Devon and want a beautiful boutique location to stay, look no further than the Plantation House Hotel! Fantastic location, superb rooms, relaxing log fires and food that would delight even the most critical eye - it's now my defacto hotel when I head to the South West!!!

We spent three nights in the 'Singapore Sling' room over the August bank holiday weekend at Plantation House. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the hotel certainly met our expectations. We can see where the previous post is coming from as the hotel doesn't have much atmosphere during the day. It is not necessarily a bad thing, as it is extremely peaceful and the perfect place to get away from it all, read a book etc.
Richard was an exceptional host, and he and his staff went out of their way to look after us and cater for our needs.
All in all a fantastic time and highly recommended hotel.
