“So relaxing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2010

This was a last minute holiday booking and we were delighted with the hotel. Our room (Constantine) was bright, airy, lovely, spacious with a chic bathroom. The view from the large bay window was great (despite the weather!) and toiletries high end (Molton Brown).
The bathroom had a lovely big bath and a very powerful rain shower. We ended up taking a bottle of wine up to our room and sitting there as the room was so nice.
The gardens around the house were also really nice, and well worth a look.
If I had one criticism, it would be that the check in experience (at the Seafood restaurant) was a little frosty. However, this did not dampen the experience and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the hotel.
(Also, don't bother eating at the Seafood restaurant - it's really overpriced and there's better in Padstow).

“Lovely room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

Stayed here early Feb on 2 night winter package. Upgraded to St Edmunds as it was my birthday- turned out to be a very good choice indeed. we checked in at the Seafood restaurant and were shown up to St Edmunds House (it's about a 1 minute walk up a narrow lane ). The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming.
Our room, Polzeath, was large and fitted out to a very high spec. Very large bathroom with molton brown smellies. I know it's being picky but the only niggle was the old fashioned wall mounted hair dryer that wasn't at all in keeping with the rest of the place.
Breakfasted in the Seafood restaurant each morning, full english one morning, grilled seabass the next- delicious.

Fantastic time At Rick Stein's and when you stay in one of his accommodations you get brilliant dinner booking times ... which we did at 7.30 and had the best meal we had ever had in our lives .... The whole experience was fantastic, food, service, ambience and accommodation perfect

“Nice place but not happy with the after service at all!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2009

We actually stayed in St Petroc the new apartments out back. We went on weekend deal. The good was great. However the after service was shocking. We paid quite considerable sum to stay there 3 nights and eat 2 nights in the restaurant and at the check out we paid up and left. About a month later they emailed saying the had under charged us and could they charge again. However I was away and didn't get the chance to respond back. They then sent an email again saying that they have gone ahead and charged my card the additional amount! I am livid at how this has happened as it has actually pushed me over my limit and I know I will get charged by my issuer for this. I am not happy at all at how they have treated me on this and will not recommend them at all.

“Great Experience, Padstow good too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

The room in Treyarnon in the St Edmunds House were beautifully furnished and to a high standard but rather expensive. At least there was the possibility of parking outside in some reserved parking for the property as otherwise parking on the main quay in the main parking area could be very difficult indeed.

Dinner in the seafood restaurant was very good and whilst expensive not too over priced and with lovely fish and seafood was a most enjoyable and welcome experience with the wines not being over-priced as in some expensive restaurants.

A great experience and Padstow itself is a lovely small town with families and children all enjoying themselves with a number of interesting local shops as well as the Rick Stein empire shops which give a 10% discount for local residents staying in the hotel.
