We stayed only one night to break-up a journey from Fort William to our home near Newcastle. The journey down had been horrendous, with torrential rain and flooded roads. We were in need of a good resting place. North Berwick is a place we love and took the opportunity to take our break there. The B & B is above a Café-Bar just off the main street, however, during the winter months it should be noted that the Cafe-Bar is not open to the public until the weekend. That said B & B guests are still served breakfast in the cafe; and what a breakfast it is. Even though we were the only guests (4 others had cancelled as their work on Bass Rock was stopped due to poor weather), a full variety of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheeses and cold meats were laid out for our selection; plus a full breakfast menu of hot dishes. I had the poached smoked haddock with a poached egg, a very generous portion and my wife had a similar portion of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Well cooked and presented. Our room was lovely and had recently been freshened up with new paint and was tastefully furnished. There was a modern shower room and toilet en-suite. Another favourable facility is the free small B & B only car park, at the rear of the property and accessed through the main public car park. We would highly recommend this B & B.
