“Generally ok but a bit disappointing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012 via mobile

The room was quite sumptuous with lovely furnishings and cushions etc. and was very comfortable and spacious. The shower however was tiny.
The general rooms had lots of sofas and chairs but these looked a bit tired and grubby and the whole hotel looked like it suffered from a lack of general maintenance and upkeep. My main complaint is that the cost of a meal in the restaurant was £100 and was bland an unimaginative and I am sure my husbands steak but on the turn, and very fatty. It's not a bad place and is in lovely location, but I wouldn't return

arrived in the dark and was not able to find the hotel as the sign has no light on it, checked in to be took their was no chef and that a message had been left with my company I had not received the message I was then told that my company needs to sort its communication out! Jill did cook a pizza for me as there was no chef. I was asked what time I would like breakfast and when I said 7.30am was told the chef isn't in till 8am but could get some one in if I needed it for 7.30 I just waited in my room till 8am the next day and then went down for breakfast. I was taken up to the first room, the bathroom was very small and the room had only a shaving mirror in the bedroom area I asked if there was a different room as I would not be able to dry my hair in that mirror or apply makeup, I was moved to the suite FOC very nice room with four poster bed and large bathroom. The room was clean and warm. I found the shower over the bath cold, the hot water never got hot and yes the room has a dressing table with a mirror but the hairdryer does not reach the mirror. The first morning the breakfast was well presented with nice local produce the second morning there was no milk, when I mentioned this at check out I was asked if would I like some. I found the hotel very mixed for service levels I was the only guest the two nights I stayed. If you like boutique hotels this hotel is for you.

“Just Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

A long overdue visit, and arriving late after a busy day of work, the Mead lulled us into a relaxed state very quickly.
Room 7 was a brilliant room, and we had perfect dining. Jill and Don were on hand to offer advice with the wine, which was well worth taking. The bed was extremely comfortable and well made, and breakfast was packed with top quality ingredients.

For a perfect escape from a busy week, i can highly recommend the Mead.

“Nice hotel for a break in Norfolk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Nice hotel for a weekend away - clean, pretty rooms in a quiet location off the beaten track within the broads region of Norfolk. We went as a couple but not sure it would be suitable for kids - we had a couple of meals here - cant say we were too impressed and certainly have no desire to go back particularly - though this may have changed since our visit.

“We just love this Hotel”

We first started to visit this delightful hotel 15 over years ago, and have so many wonderful memories, We have stayed at this hotel 9 times so far this year!. The staff are all so very friendly, and carry out ther duties in a very professional manor. The food has always been excellent, head chef Mark Sayers and his team, always ensure that the food that they serve is always fresh and beautifully presented. The staff in the restaurant are very helpful and friendly.
The propriortors Don and Jill are normally at hand to oversee that all runs perfectly.
We will be back soon, our last visit was for our 38th wedding Aniversary.
