“It's fine; just a bit stuck in the 1970's”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We had an outside room (facing the marsh) which are clearly the ones to go for. The place is very much stuck in a time warp (remember red lampshades with tassles?). Some of the staff couldn't have been less interested in our arrival or serving, but were at least polite. The room was basic but ok - very spacious and great picture window. Furniture basic, but I guess what let the room down was cleanliness of the bathroom (mould in shower, on window, stained bath / sink). Yes, we left feedback. Breakfast was reasonable. Overall, on balance we'd return - if you're not needing wall-to-wall 'Farrow and Ball', the place is fine for the price (try getting in the Blakeney Hotel for this sort of money!).

Room Tip: Go for an outside room facing the marsh

“This site is just a place for wingy people trying it on.”

I stayed at the manor over christmas and was impressed. Overall the staff were helpful and polite and tried to make us feel welcome. When I asked some of them about the reviews they said alot had been over dramatised. As we were talking about this ironically a cutstomer was complaining about their food and room. Even though they had eaten it all and there room was full of dog hairs when they had a dog? They were arrogant and blackmailing the hotel with threats of bad reviews on this site. I really feel sorry for this hotel and its staff as they made our brake wonderful and feel I should speak up! The outside rooms are the better ones and the views are lovely. The main building was warm friendly but yes could do with an update. I will be returning and would recomend as its also one of the cheaper hotel and fits the less snobbier persons price range.

“Watch out for high tides Lol”

Lovely location, right on the sea front. Nice courtyard setting. Did say no children under 12 but when we were there, there were small children running about and in danger of falling in the fish pond. Parental care!!! Nice breakfast and evening meal. Book a table. If you park on the sea fronyt, check the tides! Hotel car park is fine.

“Fortunately this Hotel does not need to rely on reviews.”

We, like so many others, have been visting the Manor regularly over the years. What draws us back again and again are the truly outstanding value midweek breaks, the plentiful and well cooked food, comfortable lounge, great location, pleasant (if not effusive) service and warm welcoming rooms.
If you hate dogs, want young children running around, like over-priced pretentious dining or seek the homogenised character of hotel chains, this is not the place for you. I suspect the sort of loyal following the Manor has are not the types to fill in Reviews, hence the voice of the silent majority (as pointed out by another reviewer) is not being represented. Visit without prejudice - you may be pleasantly surprised!

Room Tip: For midweek winter breaks all rooms are the same price, if you book early you can get one of the gre...

“Mixed reviews, mixed hotel”

This hotel has a wide range of reviews and I find myself agreeing with elements of all the comments. It offers good deals on price packages and the food was good quality particularly the evening meals.

The rooms are clean and reasonably spacious (choose the outside rooms rather than those in the hotel). On the other hand it needs a touch of de-cluttering and the bar completely lacks any warmth. The staff are efficient but I didn't get a sense of people enjoying their work. The hotel is in one of the most beautiful parts of England and it's a perfect base for outdoor activities.

Overall the hotel knows its market (over 60s) and is OK for a large family weekend gathering but don't expect a modern hotel suited to the affluent London crowd.

Room Tip: Choose the outside rooms
