“Wonderful wedding weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2008

We got married at the White Hart Inn on 14th June and had the most wonderful happy time. We had booked the whole inn for the weekend and so had all the rooms to use for our guests. The staff, the food and the whole inn were fantastic. The staff could not do enough for us and for our guests, anything that was requested was provided.

All of our guests commented on how beautiful the inn was and what a great time they had.

The whole weekend could not have been better.

A second most enjoyable visit, albeit not long enough. Restful atmosphere, comfortable rooms, very good food, excellent wine. and very good service. The breakfast is particularly to be recommended - few people get the English breakfast right, especially eggs. The White Hart did full justice. A very good centre for exploring Suffolk. We will definitely go again

  • Liked — Careful matching of fabrics, decor etc and comfortable
  • Disliked — A little dark but reflecting the age of the building

“Great food and rooms not too 'twee'”

Lovely feel to this place - feels very much the old 'coaching inn' but with nice modern touches. Top quality food in the restaurant and the wine really reasonably priced. You MAY be disappointed with the food if you like huge portions.
Only slight downside was the noise from one of the first floor rooms, but may be you have to expect that now and again given the romantic/pretty location!.

“Upset Stomach”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2006

On our 5th visit to the restaurant , with an important overseas guest.

Two people had serious stomach upset after dinner.

It is a real shame because we liked the place.

“exceptional quality at nayland”

My husband and I stay here regularly - it is perfect for a romantic weekend break. The rooms are beautiful: they are old and beamed with an understated luxury and charm. The restaurant is excellent. It really is proper french country cuisine, cooked with attention to detail, and served by the all french staff with superb service standards. Breakfasts are lovely. All food is local and seasonal. The village of nayland is a beautiful old english village with many medieval houses and a lovely church. Near by Stoke-by-Nayland has another couple of lovely pubs serving more good food - perfect for lunch. All in all highly recommended.
