“Great Time at Christmas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed here a few days before Christmas with our 2 boys aged 6 and 12. Its our 5th time and we really enjoy it always. They could just do with more indoor games. Also it was our first time during Christmas and we expected more decorations, keeping it tasteful but just more of it.
The staff are always lovely and the food good. Very relaxing small spa but book before you go as it gets busy

Room Tip: Ask for any deals, grand parents stayed for free and I only found this out by asking about special o...

Dear Guest

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel.

I was so pleased to read that you had enjoyed your stay with us over Christmas, as indeed this is a truly magical time at Ickworth.

As for the decorations, I would be delighted to increase this for 2012, and I have already improved the indoor games as you suggest.

Your comments regarding the staff and food is very well received and I will pass these on to all my staff members. Thank you.

I look forward to your next visit.

My very best wishes.

“The perfect get away for a family with children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We have visited Ickworth Hotel 3 times now and have never been disappointed! The staff are extremely attentive without being over bearing, the facilities are very good for all age groups ( we have children ranging from 3 yrs to 12 yrs) and the atmosphere is relaxed. The hotel food is amazing both for children and adults. For the children the menu is extensive and appropriate. If however there is anything in particular that you require which is not on the menu, the staff are more than willing to provide it. Frederick's restaurant is superb and gives the adults the opportunity to have some child free time in relative luxury and the chance to enjoy some excellent food and wines. The surroundings of the hotel are stunning and the history of Ickworth House make the property particularly special. The extra entertainment provided by the hotel for children ( party/disco entertainers, sports coaches etc) make the stay exciting and memorable and leave no time for the children to be bored!

Room Tip: Kingston and chudleigh work very well for a family of five.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your very nice review of our hotel, I was so pleased to read that you had thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us here at Ickworth.

As you say, we offer a range of varied children’s entertainment over the festive season which is built in to the various packages we offer, which have all been very well received, especially the traditional children’s tea party.

I sincerely hope to see you back at the hotel soon or even next Christmas..

My very best wishes.

“Wonderful, dog friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stayed one night at the hotel and also dined there on New Years Eve. On arrival we were upgraded to a two bedroom appartment in the Dower House which was incredibly spacious and comfortable and suited us very well as we had dogs with us. We had the 6 course set dinner and it was superb. The whole thing ran very smoothly with just the right amount of time between courses and the staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they even found time to chat. In the morning despite having little or no sleep they were on duty with a smile and bending over backwards to please everyone. It is the perfect place to go for a break with dogs as the walking is fabulous.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review, I was delighted to read that you had enjoyed our Gala New Years Eve Dinner and dance and that you enjoyed the upgraded room.

Ickworth is indeed an unique place, and as you say it is ideal for guests with children and dogs as we do have 1,800 acres of grounds to explore.

I sincerely hope to see you back at the hotel in the near future.

My very best wishes.

“A real treat for families with younger children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

We stayed one Easter holiday for 1 night and really enjoyed ourselves. On arrival it feels like a huge stately home. Our room was huge and very stylish overlooking the front. Our girls were 5 and 7 and we loved the games room, the pool, the grounds were completely stunning full of daffodils and we cycled all around and visited the National Trust next door and the beautiful house. We thoroughly enjoyed Fredericks. The baby listening worked really well and us adults had a well deserved delicious dinner together. It is very expensive, but a real treat for exhausted parents!

Room Tip: The front view is breathtaking.

“Avoid the Mussenden room...”

Food and facilities at the Ickworth are both excellent. The staff is also attentive and friendly. The one thing to check in advance is your room location. The Mussenden room should be avoided - it is at the front of the building and so suffered from the noise of various deliveries in the early morning. And worst of all, it is over the kitchen and permanently smelled of cooked meat!

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to review our beautiful hotel where I was delighted to read that you had enjoyed both the food and the facilities on offer and that you thought the staff were attentive and friendly.
As for the room, we take great care and time to describe all of the rooms available to guests when they book so that there are no surprises when they arrive, however I was sorry to read that you had not enjoyed the room as you should have. I hope that this will not deter you from returning to Ickworth in the future where we can accommodate you in a different part of the building, and I am confident you will enjoy the experience even more.
Again my sincerest thanks.
Best regards
