“Lovely Hotel in a quiet location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We stayed here for two nights with three other couples. The rooms are small but very comfortable. Only one or two little niggles (broken window in bedroom and bedroom furniture very MFI and the shower was temperamental) These did not detract from the extemely large and comfortable bed, the great service and the even better food! It was delicious! I am very fussy when it comes to eating out and I could not fault anything. Highly recommended.
If the bedroom furniture was upgraded (our friends wardrobe did not have a back on it and was very wobbly!) This would be a great treat for anyone. Well behaved dogs are allowed which is another bonus.

Room Tip: Ask for a big bed (there is a four poster available) Some beds are 6 foot! Some rooms only have bat...

“Excellent all round”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Stayed the night of 11/11/11. Beautiful quiet village. The hotel is homely, with log fire in the bar area. Room was a basic double but spotlessly clean, with en-suite bathroom. Comfortable bed. The food is out of this world, we had the 'Taster Menu' approx 7 courses allowing you to sample many of the dishes, encouraged us to try things we probably wouldn't order. After the meal we went into the bar area and a local couple invited us to sit with them. We were made so welcome by all the local and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Great choice for breakfast. Can't recommend too highly. We'll definitely be going again.

Room Tip: Photos of most rooms on their website.

“highly recomended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

we were recomended to stay by some friends who had a reunion there. and we were not disapointed with our stay there. warmly welcomed by very efficient staff who showed us to our room. although the rooms are small they are well furnished with excellent beds. the food was delicious and the selection of locally brewed ale and good wine list all priced very reasonably. we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: make a preference to book your room with bath or shower

“A good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Remembering that this is a 17th century building, the rooms were very good and well appointed although small. The food was excellent but don't forget to pack the "Rennies" as it is very rich. A slight delay in service one morning meant that we had to forego part of our breakfast due to being due on the tee at the nearby golf course. Perhaps it could be possible to start breakfast earlier than 8:30.

“One to miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

There are so many places out there, this is one to miss. We had to sit in the carpark for 1/2 hour as no-one would answer the door. You shouldn't arrive till after 6.pm Beer was off, food had to be sent back. No shower, just a shower spray on the bath. Needs complete update, and if it is surviving on it's food reputation, they need to go out and see what other people are doing. It was one of the most expensive places we stayed and by far the worst of our trip..

Room Tip: Bathrooms need a shower in them, as pipes are dicey.
