“A haven for weary travellers (and everyone else)”

As part of a group of ten taking part in a 130 mile sponsored walk for charity we would probably have been happy to rest our heads anywhere, under a sheet on the street corner, but fortunately we had booked into this charming place. All the staff were super friendly, delighted to welcome us, and honestly made our stay a wonderful experience. They were totally flexible with our dinner and breakfast plans (which must have been an inconvenience to them as we all arrived at different times) and didn't even bat an eyelid when ten stinky walkers came tramping through their pristine reception area. They were extremely understanding when we slathered our deep heat on at the breakfast table and could not have been more accommodating. The rooms were so beautiful, the one I stayed in had a heavenly bed, tea-making facilities and biscuits, wi-fi, a hairdryer, a perfect sized bathroom, and (most importantly) a huge bath I could soak my tired everything in. After my stay here I felt completely re-charged and ready to march on towards Bristol. This place was the absolute pinnacle of all the stopovers on our trip, I don't have one bad thing to say. I would absolutely recommend the Three Swans to everyone and would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: All the rooms I saw were amazing! One of the twin rooms I saw had a super cute little corrider to th...

10 of us stayed here as part of a charity walk we were doing from London to Brighton and it was by far the best hotel of the trip. Jenny (apologies if I have the name wrong) on reception was an absolute star and couldn't have made us more welcome despite the fact that we changed our arrival time about 4 times and turned up in dribs and drabs.

When you've walked 27 miles that day you need a good room and that is exactly what each member of our party got. The well presented rooms are a generous size and the beds very comfortable. Free no hassle wifi is always a welcome bonus,

Turning up on the stroke of last orders is usually a guaranteed way to get stroppy staff and hastily prepared meals at any restaurant but we were well looked after (frequent checks to see if we needed more drinks etc without being too intrusive) and the food was very well received by all.

I can't recommend the place highly enough. Thank you for an excellent over night stop; all of us agreed we wish we could have stayed longer.

“It's ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Stayed here for one night ( last night ) and also one night back in June. The last time we were here we stayed in the older part of the hotel and I have to say that it has a lot more charm than the annexe around the back. It states in the information that this is an old coaching inn but you would never know from the surroundings. Although it was clean and warm - apart from the bathroom - it is really quite charmless. You could be in a functional travelodge, and pay quite a lot less.

There is pretty much everything here that you need it just feels a bit empty. The duvet was too small for the bed and the room was very warm during the night.I have to say also that having paid £1 short of a hundred pounds for the night, it is bad form not to include a full english breakfast in the price.Just seems a bit money grabbing.

We stayed in a lovely place in Devon also this summer for slightly less money ( in the height of the holiday season) there was no comparison.

Unless we could find a little gem of a place close by we would probably end up staying here again as it is convenient for our needs, trouble i that, I think that this could be a little gem - not the annexe - with some thought.

Debs

Room Tip: Not the sterile annexe

“Charming hotel”

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a really big room in the older part of the hotel which has been refurbished. We had a flat screen TV, modern bathroom,a very comfortable bed and the charm of an original room. The main part of the hotel is an old coaching inn. There is a recently built annex as well.
The breakfast was good.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area. It is also reasonably priced.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3. It was great.
