This hotel consistently advertises that it is "a five-minute walk" from the Salvador Dalí Museum. It is not. The disagreeable walk is over half a mile (about a kilometer), along a hot, dusty, noisy, ugly highway. The hotel is not convenient to any restaurants or shops and not near any other tourist sites. It is also over a mile away (about 13 euros in a taxi) from the train station.
Figueres is a small town and the Dalí Museum is the only reason to visit. There are at least dozen pensions and hotels much better located than this one. The only reason to stay at the Hotel Empordá is if you are driving, as it is on the highway into town and offers free parking.
Otherwise, this is a decent hotel, if a bit overpriced by Spanish standards. The minimalist design comes off as a bit dreary rather than sleek, but the rooms are very clean, well equipped and reasonably comfortable. The hotel heavily promotes its (fairly expensive) restaurant, but both the lodging and the restaurant were empty during our stay.
Mainly, we were quite put off by the misrepresentation (read: lie) concerning the hotel's location.
