“First Class Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We have stayed at this hotel 6 times and never have been disappointed. Nothing is too much trouble and on our last occasion (29 Jan-5 Feb) I emailed the hotel beforehand to ask for a special room which upon our arrival had a fab room overlooking the sea. All the staff are friendly, there is a great selection of food, rooms are spotlessly clean and ample of sun beds for all those sun worshippers. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of southern Tenerife but in easily reach of bars and cafes. You are also able to use their sister hotel which is situated on the seafront, so best of both worlds. The evening entertainment could, however, be improved.

Room Tip: We were allocated room 4054 - fourth floor overlooking the sea.

“Noise a problem”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Quite a pleasant hotel in most respects but make sure you're not on the west wing of the hotel,we were in room 2088.The rooms on this wing of the hotel overlook the market /church square which, despite being approx 150 mtrs away can be a problem with loud music. One evening very very loud boom boom music started at approx 9 pm, we could hear this music all around the entire hotel and beyond,we retired at 11.30pm expecting the music to stop, but it did not and continued until 2.30 am by which time it had almost driven us insane it was so loud.Make sure you don't end up on this side of the hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you're not facing the market/church square.

“Overall a very pleasant hotel”

We have just returned after a very relaxing week at the Arecas. The staff are probably the best we have seen anywhere and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. In the dining room, food was varied and plentiful. At breakfast whilst it was busy we could always find a table, with many people eating outside on the patio. Evening meals are in two sittings 6 or 8pm, we found it to be a pleasant and relaxing meal with our table ready and waiting. The waiters were attentive, friendly, polite and quick, clearing away the empty plates etc almost as soon as you had finished. All the staff were brilliant and helpful. The reception staff spoke perfect english. The cleaners were very friendly, quick and our room was always spotless. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool area and a waiter is never far away. The hotel is not on the sea front, but it was only a short walk, downhill, or through the Riu Palace grounds, to the promenade, from where you could take nice walks either left towards Americas/Cristianos or right to La Caleta, a lovely fishing village. There is also a convenient bus stop outside the hotel for local destinations. Many people we spoke to have been going there for years and we will most definately return.

“Fantastic staff”

The staff here are amazing-polite happy and friendly. The range of food is very good but you do get a bit fed up of it after 2 weeks but you'll never go hungry.Everything stops at 11.30pm and everybody disappears off to bed.Fellow holidaymakers do not take into account that you may want a lie-in and there's a lot of banging doors and balcony furniture being moved around any time after 8am.Hard luck if you're a night owl but great if you want to be up bright and early.Loads of beds round the pools so no need to rush down(some still do however)
