“Cockroach Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

I have just returned from a 7 day holiday at the Altamria Costa Adeje. I would never go back to this hotel again. The room was supposed to be cleaned 5 of the days we were there and every time we came back to our room it hadnt been touched so would have to go and ask reception to send a cleaner in. It was hard to tell if the cleaner had been at all as floors were left dirty bed sheet was just pulled back, not changed or made properley.

Hotel staff were unfriendly and un helpful.

Pool was ok although did have floating poo in one day.

Boring location with little to do.

In total we counted 24 cockroaches in our room. We never left food out, we left lights on and TV and they still came!

The hotel restaurant was terrible. I asked for some toast and after 40 minutes my daughter was still waiting, I asked were it was and it evenutually came cold and burnt.

Very upset as it was very expensive and our first holiday away as a family.

just returned from aparthotel altamira...well the location u could not fault, opposite the beach, all rooms have a sea view + pool view, only 12 apartments are for holiday lets, all the others are privatley owned...NOTICE...all the other privatley owned rooms are being renovated, they have only just started, and could take a year before completion. BEWARE, of noise from 8am till 8.30pm, banging , hammering, plus the dreded sthill saw..we had to be moved from day one as the noise was horrendous, no chance of a siesta, and no way u could enjoy a lunch on the balcony, sthill saw dust all over towels and furniture..I had to point out that their rules and regs were being breached, workmen from 9 to 1 then 3 till 5 only, they were still at it after 8pm, also no building work in july, we were their in july..u have been warned !! only stay if u are out all day, even by the pool the noise of building work can be heard...room very basic, BEWARE, NO aircon in any of the rooms, kitchen area could be a ground for bacteria, as chippped tiles etc, socket for the toaster is at the back of taps, so toaster has only one place to sit " in the sink "... its a 5* area with prices to match, the tiny supermarket opp, euro 3.99 for a pkt of cereal. 2.50 for sml loaf, bacon 3.99 for 6 rashers.lrg pkt crisps 1.99 to 2.50.el dukque 15 min walk.fanabe beach 30 min brisk walk, playa dl americas 1 hour walk, all flat..if u have already booked, please hire a car, will b cheaper in the long run, not poss 2 get to hypermarket otherwise.pool area is fab, query heated though ! safe for the wee people, deep for the adults ,never overcramped, games area, pool side bar 1.50 ice lolly 2.50 coke.whale watch trip, 40 euro each= 120, at fanabe. got same trip at porto colon for total 42 euro for the 3., and we did see the pilot whales : ).fab weather 26 deg at nite, sadly theirs no aircon at this hotel, which can make it unbearable to sleep at nite.only noise u will get is from the builder and defintly not from the ppl at the complex, mostly eastern europeans, russians , croats ets might get 1 family from uk ? very cosmopolitan. the staff are pleasant and polite at all times, even when im ranting about the workmen, proffesional and helpful..hotel does have a lift, for anyone with a disabilty, u will need to use the pool gated area, as on the flat , key entry, so no strangers allowed in. hotel does have a sml problem regarding cockroaches, do as i do, leave the sml light on ALL nite in bathroom and close the door, u wont see them, they love the dark !.cleaner in every day of our stay, fresh towels, do not leave children unattended in shower, no shower mat, and floor like an ice rink. tv channels, same as home "not sky.lol"...overall ..if kitchen renovated, and aircon repaired, workmen had all finished, and rented a car, it could be the perfect location for a superb holiday.

“Relaxing Holiday location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

Altamira is an apartment complex that is a combination of privately owned apartments and some commercial holiday lets.
We stayed there for 2 weeks in January 2011 and found the Altamira just right for a winter break with the freedom to come and go at will.
The apartments consist of one bedroom, bathroom, living room with fitted kitchenette.other facilities include satellite TV with UK, French and German channels. There is a good Wifi internet connection.
Our apartment was well equipped, clean and had views over the beach and across the Adeje bay towards Las Americas. There are 2 reasonably sized pools,1 heated plus a children's pool.
The Adeje area is a bit more up market than other areas and does not have a lot of night life but Fanabe, Las Americas can be reached by foot in 20 minutes or by taxi for around €8.
There is a small shopping complex 50m from the Altamira with 2 minimarkets, a Scottish run Pub and 3 restaurants - 2 French and 1 Spanish. Dinner at these places will cost between €6(Pub) and €25( Chez Berbert French restaurant)
There are other reasonably priced eateries within a 10 minute walk plus a number of up market and pricey places to eat/drink along the beach promenade which is only 50 meters away from the complex.
I would recommend the Altamira for older couples and families with young children but not for anybody who wants a lot of night life.

“Xmas in Altamira”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

Stayed at the Altamira over xmas 2010, absolutely beautiful location, the apartment we stayed in had been refurbished and had everything you would need, pool never over crowded, you have the best of both worlds, peaceful location a walk or short taxi ride and you can have lots of nightlife, couldnt have been better.

My boyfriend and I travelled to the Altamira in August 2008. The hotel is situated in a quieter part of the area but all attractions are easily accessible. We enjoy a night out in the busier Las Americas which was a short taxi ride away.

The hotel itself is basic but fantastic- everything you need for a great holiday base! We had one problem with small ants on the wall but once reported to the desk they provided some spray which removed them straight away.

The pool is fantastic and doesn't get over-crowded!
There was no entertainment in the hotel but there are plenty of bars a short walk along the beach which is on the door step of the hotel.

There are local amenities across the road which supply all holiday needs at more then reasonable prices.

*** Gorgeous Chinese across the road- a must try!***

I would definitely return to the Altamira :-)
