“Good but not really 5-star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Good hotel, nice gardens, pool area, calm, relaxing and not crowded. The beach is right there too. This hotel is located in a more quiet area in Tenerife. So if you do not like loud places with busy traffic, this is the a good place. Generally Adeje is a great and calm area.
We actually enjoyed out stay here. Good service, nothing outstanding though.

The breakfast was good, standard breakfast you would expect in a Sheraton.

The bad points;

The exchange rate at the hotel was bad, couldnt understand why they charged that much. So i would advice that you have your money already exchanged or do it somewhere else.

Inside the room, not up to standard, at least not in the room we had. The bed was horrible, we had a double bed which was 2 single beds put together. The problem was that one of the beds was squeaky and kept moving away from the other, so by the time it was morning, there would be a large gap about an arms length between the beds... this made us really laugh! And the tv in our room was small and old, so not 5-star!

In case you prefer to eat out, unfortunately there are no restaurants in this neighborhood, except for one small Italian restaurant not very far across the street from the hotel, very good food too. We would take the bus or taxi to Playa delas america, los cristianos or some other busy places to find other places to eat.

Overall, would recommend this hotel. On a scale of 1 - 10, i would rate it a 7.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the in sharing your impressions on your recent stay at the Sheraton la Caleta Resort & Spa in Tenerife.

We are happy to learn that you had a god overall stay, in spite of the fact that certain points of our hotel did not quite meet your expectations.

We are sorry to hear about your poor bed experience, but unfortunately due to the very high occupancy at the hotel, we cannot guarantee a king size bed to our guests, and therefore have to conform the best possible way . However it does come to us with some surprise as our beds are usually prized by our guests, being Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds, an ergonomic bed recognized for its high quality.

In regards to eating out, should you decide to return one day to the hotel, I am happy to inform you that there is also a great selection of high quality bars and restaurants available 600 metres away from the hotel in the village of La Caleta.

Thank you once again, and we are hoping in seeing you soon back at the hotel in a near future.

With kind regards
JG

“A dream hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The hotel is in the south side of the island and it looks like a moorish castle. The rooms and apartments are very large, clean and sunny. The swimming pools are included in a private beach , which is not linked with the ocean.. The shore is pretty rocky, near the hotel, but if you want you can find an acceptable ocean beach at 300 m.
For transportation the best approach is to rent a car.

“Best one yet!”

Every January my mum and I have a week away somewhere warm. This year we stayed at the Sheraton and had the best time ever! Initially we felt reception was a little unwelcoming but later on in our holiday they were very helpful. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the sea. We had a massive bathroom with separate shower, w.c and bath and twin sinks. We had twin beds which were really comfortable with lovely cotton bedding. The room was kept very clean. There was a mini bar and separate fridge which was very handy as there is a supermarket close by! We enjoyed our breakfast every day - in fact the egg section made me fresh pancakes on request which was lovely, especially as there were some already made each day. There was a huge variety from fruit and cereal to cold meats and cooked. We cannot comment on the hotel evening food as we ate out every night across the road by the Church and supermarket(mum can't walk too far) at two lovely restaurants - an Italian and a more traditional food restaurant (more fine dining) but both were very reasonable. The pools and grounds were immaculate with smooth paths (not cobbles) making walking easy and the pool and pool bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy access to the path running along the sea front via secure hotel gate. We will definitely go back!

“Classy, clean, comfortable”

Was very nervous but need not have worried. A top hotel, immaculately clean, fantastic breakfasts. Restaurants were OK, did not try the Sushi, a bit pricey but not too bad - its a 5 star hotel. The pools were fabulous, I even had my haircut there and I have to say the best haircut in a long time. In terms of location it is a 10 minute taxi ride (circa 13 euro) from Las Americas and 25 min ride from the airport - circa 25euro. Really recommend two top restaurants in Las Americas: Meson Castellano and Meson Parrilla. They are literally next to each other. The former does not have a menu, they will tell you what they got, be it tapas, fish, meat but all top quality. The latter does have a menu but again really top top food. Expect to pay circa 100 euro inc a bottle of wine with starters but that will include a plate of iberico, large king prawns and other fish so that is top end, tapas for 2 was 70 euro again with a bottle of vintage cava. The taxi drivers know it by name and always very busy.

Back to the hotel, we had an upgraded premium room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool area. No problems with noise or anything like that. The only gripe was our room was North facing and we got NO sun on our balcony. Yet I think others on the same floor did who were only a few rooms along, just the angle of the balcony (room 362). Not sure what the difference between ours and a standard room was. The rooms higher up were club rooms and looked a lot bigger. At the "beach" end of the hotel there is a super path along which there are bars and some restaurants within a 15 min walk. Only found them on last day so no idea what they like.

We did not use the spa though we did have a quick tour and have to say looks great. Fully equipped gym too.

As mentioned before by others the TV's are abit old hat in that a flat screen is more becoming, but the trade off is you could get BBC1, ITV (+1 for some reason..) BBC2, Sky News and a couple of others so I got my fix of Top Gear and wife Eastenders! Biggest complaint - no kettle, you get one of those coffee machines which does fresh coffee in effect, so you put water in and it drips into a pot. Its fine if you like fresh brewed coffee but if you want tea, not good. Take your own tea bags is my recommedation. The bathroom and shower were excellent, bed very comfortable. I wouldnt bother with room service - ridiculously expensive.

Food could be delivered to the pool area. A neat way of getting attention was every umbrella has what is in effect a pager. So, you press this button, the staff know the location of the umbrella and come and get your order. Poolside choice is a bit limited but good quality if a bit pricey - a club sandwich 15 euro with a few chips... but very nice!

In short, thoroughly recommended but take your own tea bags. It is not cheap but as stated it is 5 star and you get what you pay for. That said its not completely ridiculous except for their room services prices which are daft. Would def go again.

Room Tip: Depends if you want any sunshine on the balcony and if you want it morning, afternoon or all day. Ju...

“Best in Tenerife!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

There really isn't much more that I can add to what previous reviewers have said but I need to reiterate that this place is so clean, relaxing, superb service, and in a great location. Really terrific!

My husband likes to jog every day on holiday and the location here means that you can simply access the beach walk from the pool area and security gate and run along the front to Playa Las Americas. Too expensive for the lunches at the pool restaurant though as others have noted.

Would add though that diagonally across the road from the hotel entrance there is a pharmacy, supermarket, restaurant and coffee shop all just a 2 minute walk. We discovered this on our last day after walking about 2 miles to find a pharmacy!!

Anyway, don't hesitate to stay at the Hotel Sheraton and keep up the great work if any of the staff is reading this as your service is excellent and you should be proud of all the staff there.

Room Tip: Get one with a sea view or pool view.
