“Terrible start, amazing out come!!”

We were extremely apprehensive about coming here given the reviews regarding 'cell block A' so we thought we would play it safe and pay for a sea view room..

We got there and I was given a key stating A.. Straight away I knew were in the dungeons, so we went down to take a look.. And it really is like a parking lot down there! Bars on windows, says it all.

I payed for a sea view room, so that's what I wanted. After a pleasant conversation with the reception, they let us move to a room on B block. Words can't describe how amazing the room and the view was! Bang right in the middle, top floor, loads of space. Would definitely go back and pay extra just to have that same room!

“Good and bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

On our arrival the lady at the desk told us that the appartements were overbooked. We were very disappointed and angry too. We had to stay for 2 nights in appartements Los Olivos. That was not all too bad, but absolutely not what we booked/expected. Luckely (because we were angry and complained to our hostess?) we got an upgrade when we arrived again, after two nights, at Sol Sun Beach. Very nice app. and view. Breakfast was okay, staff was good, entertainment was bad, cleaning was sufficient, we had to pay for a waterboiler!, beds were so hard that one of us slept on the couch in the livingroom, internet (paid) was very fast. About the surroundings: there were many restaurants and shops, the beach was dark "sand", the swimming pool was very nice, but we expected more of Costa Adeje itself.

Room Tip: ask for seaview

“great location,but not safe!”

We stayed at the Sol Sun Beach for 9 days.we were in a block C.Good location, clean apartment, but no air conditioning.,The pool and the roof terrace nice and big.The maids came every day to clean, make the beds and change the towels. We ate at the restaurant, the restaurant was lovely, and the food was really good. But the only disappointment was that on the last night of our stay camera was stolen from our room.the hotel staff didnt do much, manager didn’t even bother to talk to us on the next morning, only got conected to police station. We rang back to hotel next day and were told that 2 more rooms were broken into, cameras and phones were taken. They could do with some security, cctv. It might be staff, because they used a key to open a door to our room.
Overall the location was ideal, the apartments were good and the weather fantastic, not sure about going back!

“Just about Average”

Read the reviews on Tripadvisor before we left, and Lo and Behold! We got allocated a room in the A Block Dungeons!! I did feel very nervous about this from a fire safety point of view...although we did have access out onto a large terrace, it took us quite a while to work the patio doors!
We had a very large corner apartment. It did the job. There was no kettle...no hairdryer...you have to hire everything! We did without.
However, location was fabulous.
We didn't eat in the complex at all, we had breakfast every morning in the nearby Playa Bar...Cheap 'n Cheerful.
Nicest restaurant, slightly more expensive than the usual ones was Veneto, just across the way. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Avoid Ground Floor, and Avoid Ground Floor A Block. However, if you are a large group of, say teena...

“Was a nice holiday, hotel was pretty average but what a great location.”

Enjoyed our stay, the hotel was average, but the location was excellent!! A short walk to the beach, bars and restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had heard from people about the A block "the dungeons" but we were lucky as we had a room in E block on pool level. Went self catering so cant comment on the food myself but heard it was ok. The pool area was lovely and sun loungers were plentiful. Only a few English guests whilst we were there, mainly spanish and dutch guests, wasnt a problem for us as the children made lots of friends with the spanish children. The day time activities were ok, aqua arobics and water polo. The evening shows 5 nights a week were varied and entertaining. One down side, there were lots ants in the apartment and the occassional cockroach also made an appearence, reported it to reception 5 times before it was dealt with. Maid service was most days. Has no air con in rooms but does have ceiling fans which helped at night as it was so hot. We hired a air con unit £75 for 2 weeks but couldnt leave it on all night as its so humid there it needed emptying after a few hours.
HOTEL TIP: Try to book a private apartment here, we paid £490 per week for our one bedroom apartment with a travel agent thinking that was a good price, then found out whilst there that people had booked private rentals for only £300 per week for a one bedroom apartment. Also it seems the private rentals are fully equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave, freezer and the views are free, where as the hotel charge you 10 euros each for these "additional items" AND also charge 10 euros per night for a sea or pool view.
THE RESORT: Theres lots to do in the resort and entertainment is available all along the promenade, try the Garden Bar and Deep Blue on the sea front for some good hospitality and nice food. It costs just under 8 euros for a three course meal at Deep Blue. Generally around the resort the beer is 1 euro but they charge 2 to 3 euros for soft drinks. Siam Park is a must, the tidal wave pool is amazing we paid 29 euros per adult and 19 per child not bad for a great day out, once inside head straight to the beach and grab a sun lounger and parosol before heading to the rides. The Catamaran was a good trip, half a day at sea watching dolphins and whales with lunch included. Think we would return but it would definately be a private rental apartment next time.

Room Tip: Try to book directly one of the privately owned apartments as they are better equipped and can be...
