The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable. Decor in the room had a sort of homemade feeling to it on a beachy pastel theme, but the bath was regular hotel style in all marble with a full soaking tub. I was in room 401, there was still quite a bit of noise. Not sure if there was air conditioning, but it was cool enough at night that I wasn't concerned. The ceiling fan was helpful but so loud and squeaky that I didn't bother with it at night.
I believe when I looked it up it said the staff was english speaking- they do, to an extent but don't expect fluency. The reception desk is only open for limited hours and is on the floor above the cafe/bar where you enter. Most of the time the waitstaff at the bar will be attending you for room needs/reservations and the room stuff is not really their priority although they do try to help if they can. You will need to employ patience in the cafe.
You can smoke in the room, although I didn't since it wasn't quite well ventilated for it, but I didn't notice it smelling of smoke from previous visitors.
The cafe/bar is an actual nightclub with the noise and crowd to go with it on weekends. Weekdays are quieter but even on the fourth floor you should expect to hear some drunken hooting and hollering well toward dawn. You have to pass through this crowd to get to the elevator, which you open with a key. The hallways are very dark at night and you need to flip the switch yourself when you get off the elevator- take note of where it is in the daylight for future reference. Even then, getting the key in the door is by touch at night since you can't see the actual keyhole in the dark.
They do provide breakfast- just go down to the cafe and order...tell the waitstaff you are staying there and they don't charge you. There are also hairdryers and toiletries like shampoo, bodywash, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
I am not an experienced traveler and this is my first trip to Europe, and I am solo. That being said the first hotel I stayed in on arrival in Malaga was very close to american standard with a pricetag to match- still cheaper than what I would expect to pay in america but now that I've been around Spain a bit and adjusted to the hotels, I would say that Misiana is a good blend of American expectation and the more budget friendly options available in Spain. It was a good place to get acclimated and very centrally located (downside of that is a lot of noise late at night...) and they do have wifi in the lobby which you can comfortably use in the morning through about 6pm. Then the music gets louder and people start coming in for drinks, etc. Remember the lobby is a cafe that turns into a full blown nightclub later.
If you're already experienced in travel, and/or want something quieter and more homey I would suggest Hostel Africa a few blocks away. If you're young and into the nightclub experience then this is a good spot for you. I can't imagine what noise you would need to make to create a noteworthy disturbance at any hour in this hotel.
I would recommend this to a friend...depending on which friend...:)
