“For the price I wouldnt come back again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Was here for a night in the little city of Tarifa.
I enjoyed my night in this city but the hotel wasnt that good at all. First of all there is little light in the corridors so at night it is not really good to open your door. The room is not so bad but I stayed in better places for half the price of this.
To be honest, you are in the centre of the city thats nice but this hotel just doesnt give me a warm and relaxed feeling. The rooms are dark, look a bit old and have no working wifi connection. The lift can only work when you put your key in and gives me a unsafe feeling.
The breakfast is not that bad, but I could have had my breakfast also somewhere else.
To be honest.. I wouldn t recommend this hotel.

Hi,
Thanks for your comments because you make us change...
We have take care about all the issues that concerns to your stay:
The corridors have good lights to open the doors.
The rooms have been refurnished and we have got a beatiful place that is deserving the first pages of decoration magazines
We have worked on the rooms to get them comfortable and chique. Now, you'll get the sensations that you expects from the South of Spain
We have taken care about the lightness of rooms: white color and lights is our premise.
Another change: all the guests will have a free wifi connections in their rooms.
The lift do not need key anymore.
Besides, there are no keys but keycards for the doors (entry and rooms).
And we are working to get the best place for your breakfast. We will not be chill out bar anymore but a nice and lovely restaurant where we you will have one of the best buffet breakfast you have ever enjoyed.
As you see, he have changed. Your opinion has been very important and we promise that Misiana is now a great place to stay if you come to Tarifa.
Sory about al the inconveniences. We won't let you down next time.
Thanks

“Funky and convenient hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

Wanted to visit Tangier and explore the Costa de la Luz and Hotel Misiana was a good choice in Tarifa. It had a great location within easy walking distance of the port, and a little farther to the beach. There were several restaurants/bars on the same street and many in the near vicinity including the small promenade Paseo de la Alameda. It's just on the edge of the old town and with a nice church at top of the street. We checked in at the bar, seeing no actual Reception which turned out to be on second floor in the back and not often manned. We were given 3 keys, one to access a side door if the bar were closed, one for the elevator, and one for the room. The only problem that needs to be addressed is the lighting outside the rooms. The light was so dim we couldn't see to get the key in the lock.

There was limited paid street parking but could never find a space so parked at a small manned garage on San Sebastian the hotel recommended. It was too far to walk with suitcases so had to drop off luggage first.

We had a front facing room with half-wall of windows that wrapped around for a good view of the old castle walls. The room was a good size with a small TV and brightly painted and decorated, with moorish accents. It might seem a bit garish for some but we loved it. The bathroom was good size with plenty of counter space around the sink for your stuff. Had a hairdryer.

Breakfast was included but they were painting the floor of the bar/restaurant area and we were told to go just up the street to be served at another restaurant which was no problem. It consisted of OJ, toasted long roll with jam, and coffee. Would've liked to see maybe cheese or some sliced meat. They had a limited lunch/dinner menu which we didn't try.

The bar area was of a modern, contemporary style and favored by the young set. There were some outside tables. One night a week they have a tango demonstration. Others joined in, it was great, really enjoyable.

This is not a traditional hotel, it's a little quirky, but we liked it.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

The worst thing about the Misiana is that it's central, busy and very noisy. The best things about the hotel are that it's central busy and very noisy.

I stayed in the 501 room on the top floor which is effectively the penthouse and it's a great space - a big outdoor roof terrace with amazing views over the port and it has loungers and some shade. The bathroom is big and very well appointed but the two major drawbacks are the lack of any aircon in the room and the lack of water pressure (for the shower). No aircon is a big deal because it's one of the tallest buildings in the port and it gets battered by the sun all day at every hour.

Breakfast was essentially toast and maybe a coffee. The hotel has a nice charm about it and the bar is quite a chilled space.

If were to come back to Tarifa, I would recommend the Misiana, but I'm just not sure I would go back to Tarifa. Apart from the kite surfing and wind surfing, there isn't much to pull you there

“Nice hotel - Great location”

It was our second stay in Misiana and we still loving it! His 'high point' is, definatly, the location: in the middle of the old town, close to the best bars and restaurants and in a short walking distance from the beach. The rooms are clean and quiet (except on week-ends, once the bar is open till late); despite is not a 'boutique hotel' the ambiance is really nice, just like the bar!

“Quirky hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

We had two rooms on the 4th floor that looked out onto the main street. We stayed here for 3 nights as a jumping off point for Gibraltar and Tangier. The jury is still out on whether I liked this place or not. The location is great. The staff, the bar staff that is (there was a reception desk but it was NEVER open while we were there) were somewhat attentive. It seems the establishment is a cafe/bar first and a hotel second.

We went down for breakfast only one day. We were early evidently (a little before 8:00). We had to catch the 9:00 ferry to Tangier. The bar was dark, no lights on. There was one attendant. We had to wait about 20 minutes for more staff to get there. When we did sit down to eat, we were offered toast. Toast! Not what I consider a good breakfast, even by Spanish standards.

The rooms were adequate. My issue was that our beds had no topsheets. This may be a European standard, I'm not sure (even though we've been to London, Paris, Italy, and now Spain and never encountered this). The comforters were worn and ragged (hopefully from frequent washing- that's what I told myself anyway!).

Reading reviews before we left, I was concerned about noise level at night. We were fortunate and had no problems.
