“This isn't the Ritz, but the location is excellent & it's a good value.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

We got a decent, clean room with a bathroom & terrace for a very reasonable price. We went during the high season & the town was absolutely full of tourists. At first, we were a little worried because there was no air conditioning & the TV didn't work, but we didn't miss either of those things. It was wonderful sitting in front of the church watching the passeo until the wee hours of the morning. The town is charming, the beach is close & there is a lot to do. The rooms were very clean & the staff was very friendly. I would recommed this to anyone who really wants to get out of their room & experience the people.

Room Tip: E-mail Maria ahead of time to arrange a room.

“Horrible place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2009

I'm not a fussy traveller by any means but this place was awful. The single room was so small it felt like a cell. Bed hard and tiny.To get to the bathroom you had to go down the stairs and through reception. The bathrooms stank and there was no ventilation. The location is great though. But find somewhere else in Tarifa. It may be relatively cheap but its not good value for money. Try the melting pot or hostal africa.

I don't know why this person decided to stay in the hotel if he didn't like the room or the situation of the bathroom. We always show the room and the bathroom to every customer before the check in, we don't force anybody to stay here. About the beds, they are not tiny, they all have a regular spanish size, and if it's hard, it means that the mattress is new. Anyway, actually we don't have single rooms, because that room and the 2 doubles that was beside it was transformed in a large quad room with private bathroom.

“yet the view was worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2009

we went there inbetween mid-season and "baja" and styaed in the spacious and charming room no. 6 - which is situated on the top floor. so we had access to the roof terrace as well as those guests of no. 8. the view from there over tarifa and as well the one out the window of our room over the red roofs and to the church tower were great. the staff was really nice and the price of 40 euros for the double room (kingsize bed) was absolutely reasonable. the lovation is best - near the café central, which is as the name goes, top-meeting point for coffee and toastada in the morning before heading for the beach. and: last but not least there's always an "aparcamiento" (the way up, direction harbour, nearby at the castillo).

“Brilliant location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2009

This hotel was located in the old town, just a stones throw from all restaurants, bars and shops. We went out of season, so it was relatively quiet, in fact after midnight it was desolate so it wasn't noisy or a problem to sleep at night.

The centre is a 5-10 minute walk away and all the surf shops are there. I went to kitesurf and the weather/surf & prices were all very good. The price for kitesurfing is still very good, despite the poor exchange rate (£-Euro)

“Freezing in Tarifa”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2009

Stayed here for one night with our adult daughter and it was quite an experience. Took us back to our adventurous days! We had Room 8, at the top of the house, which might have been wonderful in the summer but was freezing in December, when we hit a particularly cold, wet and windy week! Spartan is not the word - oh how I longed for a fitted wool carpet and central heating.
The place was clean and we had hot water, but apart from that it was basic, plus we had to endure the very nearby church clock strike every 1/4 hour - we hardly slept.
Apart from the church clock the position was great although would likely be noisy in the summer, and parking would be a nightmare (but not in December!) To sum it all up it was cheap, not particularly cheerful, and we basically got what we paid for.
