“Unwelcomed, ungreeted, far from town and sea, bitterly cold, bitterly disappointing”

We booked on the advice of an advisor at Lowcost holidays, who thought this was suitable for an elderly lady in a wheelchair looking for a central, accessible self catering apartment in the sun.
The apartment was on the ground floor, but is situated on a steep hill, and accessible only by four steps. Not many, but too many for me, struggling with a wheelchair and its occupant.
A written message on a noticeboard outside the closed reception told us to phone a number to be given access. We had to borrow a mobile from the taxi driver, who was very worried about leaving us alone in the dark, but had to do so. After 20 minutes, a harrassed lady came with keys to the apartment, and a plan of the development showing which flat was ours. She did not work for the company, she said, and had to go home to her small children, so please find our own way. Eventually, she let us use her phone to call the "receptionist", who told us it was a public holiday, and hung up.

The flat was bitterly cold, and there was no heating. The beds were chilled, and there were 2 thin blankets each.I slept in my fleece jacket, with my coat above to let the old lady have my second blanket, but in the morning she was blue with cold. I put on all the cooker rings, and plugged in the kettle. The electricity went off with a bang.

Later, met "the receptionist " going into the office. He offered me one radiator - more would blow the electrics, he said,. and 2 more blankets. He said "You have plenty, and it is not cold."
The old lady was ashen.

We walked the 3 km into Nerja - me pushing the wheelchair, and lifting it up and sown the kerbs - and found the nicest apartments have stayed in anywhere, and at a very good price.
Please see my glowing review of Tobosso Aparthotel.....

Do NOT stay at Las Rosas - we met two families with young children who said they had been cold, they had been told there was a swimming pool for the kids, but it was closed, and that they would never book with Thomas Cook again...

“misleading discription of location led to disappointment”

We booked our stay at las rosas using as one factor the photos that were shown. On arriving at the location, we found our rooms to be very disappointing. Whilst several of the apartments were in the main block which did overlook the very pretty gardens and pool, the block ours was in certainly did not have a view of the gardens! Our balcony overlooked the roof of the adjacent Supermarket! We spent the whole week having to look at a sea of grey shingle, concrete and the back of large title letters! It really spoilt our holiday. At no point during our booking were we ever told that there was a block of apartments in this position or we certainly would not have chosen this development - well who would - but of course that's why they dont tell you! If you book an apartment here make sure you insist on having a view of the garden and pool!

“Dont bother”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

Arrived around 10.30 pm and had to pick up our keys from a nearby hotel. Be warned there are two Las Rosas, one with a pool with sun beds and a bar and the other with a pool, but no sun beds, no bar, closes at 9pm, and no pool games allowed, so if you have kids they will be bored.
Our apartment was dirty, damp, inparticular the bathroom which was also covered in black mould! And no air com, which we were informed by Flight Centre with who we booked the holiday with assured.
There was no welcome, or information from the reception, they werent interested and hardly ever open like the bar.
The apartments are a 20 minute walk from the beach, all downhill, so not advisible with kids as its all uphill on the way back. And also a 20 minute walk from the main town. To eat out it is expensive, but there is a good supermarket (not open on Saunday afternoon) 5 mins away. So we ended up eating at home most nights.
Our apartments was cleaned after 4 nights, where bins were emptied, beds changed and clean towels but thats all we never saw them again. Also the apartment didnt even come with toilet roll!
For what we paid we would expect more. We were really dissapointed and will be feeding back to the Flight Centre.
Dont stay here - please, not if you want a good holiday. we ended up getting a bus to Seville and staying in a hostel for 3 nights, it was cleaner!!

“Nice, but too far away from town”

Just got back today and had a great holiday. Our apartment was looking over the pool which the pool is surrounded by lovely green garden. The apartments are basic but clean and could of dome with air con. The pool was good but notmany sum beds approx 20. The pool bar was very disappointing as don't open till approx half five till six in the afternoon so forget about having lunch around the pool and it was not open everday, just when they felt like it. There is nothing around the hotel, very quite which I quite liked but every evening had to walk into town which was a good 20 mins but on the way back to the hotel this is uphill (no taxi ranks or any taxis around) which not recommend for small children, my son is 8 and when he was tired it was hard work. Would definetly go back to nerja but not these apartments. Still had a great time though.

“Fabulous, clean and peaceful location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2010

My husband and I stayed here in May 2010 for the first time and we loved it!!!! The apartments are well-equipped with digital cooker and metal blinds to boot! The terrace was a real sun-trap with the quiet pool only 10 footsteps away. After staying at the dreaded Mediterraneo apartments for the past few years this apartment was a dream! Will definitely go again...plus, due to the up-hill walk back from the town centre I find my gluteus maximus has had a welcome work-out lol!
