“Clean, simple and ... loud”
I was in Nerja at the beginning of April, so not in the peak season. Nerja was quite full of people anyway, so i guess in August could get a little bit stressy. April was OK.
We got a studio on the second floor, in a separated building about 200m away from the Hostal Abril itself. This second building was in a bit smaller street, called Calle del Almirante Ferrandiz, and this is maybe an advantage. However, the location in the Calle de la Pintada has a nice internal garden and most of the rooms have a balcony. In our building we had no garden and no balcony.
The room was quite simple, recently renewed, very clean and quite confortable.
The problem is that in this part of nerja you have to deal with a lot of noise from cars and motorbikes till late in the night. And to find a parking place can get tricky. At the end i always found a small spot where i could park my car, but sometimes i had to drive around the hostal for 20 minutes and more.
There is a large public parking lot in nerja where of course you always find a place, this is howevere about 15 minutes by feet to the hostal and i was too lazy to park there :-)
The family running the hostal was very nice. But don´t expect to speak English with them, try to learn a couple of spanish words! The manager specially cannot speak any English but if you talk in English with him, he seems to understand but he replies in Spanish. The sister of the manager can speak English sufficiently to help you with your needs. The woman taking care of the second building (where we were) does not speak and understand any word in English.
The price of this hostal was honestly amazing considering how clean was the studio we got. We had also WiFi and a good LCD television.
All in all, it was a good choice, specially if you don´t get nervous from the traffic on the street and you don´t get mad if you don´t find immediately a parking place right in front of the door.
