I stayed at the Rio Marinas Apartments - not to be confused with the big 'Marinas De Nerja' hotel next door.

It was small but comfortable, the staff were on hand to help out, cleaner came in 3 times in a week.

I've stayed in much worse places - this was cheap and cheerful, with no major problems. Nice decor, comfy beds and decent fridge, cooker etc. The only niggle was the shower didn't work - but who cares? I had some relaxing baths instead!

If I'd taken my children, I think the 20 minute walk up the beach to get to the town would've been tiring. But there are cheap buses for 1 euro.

Town is lively, lots of english speakers and nice bars. As it was January, it was sunny (but windy) for 6 out of 7 nights - but overcast. No chance of sunburn!

If you're the sort of person who freaks out at less-than pristine places, then don't stay there. But for most people it's fine and a great price in a nice quiet spot.

I'll be going back there again - but probably in april/may/june just so it'll be a tad warmer!

Paid not much money to stay here so wasn't epecting the Ritz. However, we were most certainly not expecting to have our roof space populated with warthog sized rats!

Onthebeach.com, with whom we booked our holiday were less than useless.

We ended up moving from apartment to apartment which was a right royal pain when we only had a week.

Nerja, on the other hand was fab and we will surely go back. But not to 'Ratas Marinas!'

Never a 3* or 2 Keys. Booked rio marinas apartments last minute,checked trip advisor while booking and read really good reviews all 4 out of 5 for overall ratings.but do not be fooled these apartments are next door to the 4*nerja marinas hotel/apartments ,they are seperate establishments.

On arrival the first apartment on the ground floor level was dirty,we asked to be moved to the first level this apartment was not much better, the patio doors would not lock then electricity,water went off we spoke to reception staff who were very unhelpful apparently services can go down if there is heavy rain.Two elderly ladies who had been staying there for 4 days only had 1 day of power,water there was no backup ie candles or torches or water.

As we had just arrived we required to wash and eat therefore had to book into the next door Hotel Nerja Marinas for the night which has a backup generator.

The Rio Marinas apartments are very rundown badly in need of upgrading ,ill equipped kitchen 2 ring cooker,utensils and crockery vey poor,the pool bar was closed,no sunloungers by the pool area.Beach has no sunloungers and surrounding area is used by locals there is also a campsite next door for travelling caravans whose access is by passing by these apartments.

Clean but VERY basic apartment which was in need of a good overhaul - particularly the kitchen, bathroom and balcony doors - which would not open without a struggle ! Busy main road position. At least 1.5 mile walk to Nerja town along a not very nice beach. Nice new pool area but no sunbeds! On site cafe/bar didn't look as if it had been open for a while. Miserable staff. What more can I say - won't be visiting again (booked in a rush because of the XL fiasco) !!! Nerja town is a great buzzz at night and there are a few nice bars/restaurants on the beach.
